The Cubs are in the 12th day (6-5) of a stretch that sees the club play 17 consecutive days through June 17 … Chicago is slated to play 5 straight series against clubs with a winning record – through 3 of those series, beginning with Atlanta from June 1-3, the Cubs are 5-5 … that doesn’t include last night’s 2-1 win over Houston, who is sporting a 26-37 record this season.

Hmmm...Didn't know you could "sport" a record that bad.

Wow- Murton and Barrett batting back to back. IF they can get on am sure they will run us out of a couple of innings. Maybe they can figure out how to both get thrown out on a double steal.

Yeah, we'd be so much better off if we just had Freddie "Boom Boom" Bynum back to play right, and Blanco to catch... they'd never be on base to get thrown out.

I've never thought Washburn was all that great. Hope we can generate some O on him tonight.

i think his era on teh road is something like 2.25

Jock and Soriano are easily worse baserunners than Murton. DeRosa's no genius out there either.

Yep, same as before. Thanks Bruce.

We should have included Bruce in the tourney.

Why on earth would we bat Pagan 2nd? DeRosa or Murton would be perfect fits there.

Dude's fast. Gotta have speed at the top.

I see... Lou's tired of all the fake rallies, so he's gonna try to run us right out of them as soon as possible. Gotcha.

What is Izturis doing in the lineup?

If you’re taking Pie out because of a left you gotta take out Izturis… His line:

vs. Left

G AB AVG OBP SLG OPS

19 31 226 .273 .258 .531

At Wrigley:

G AB AVG OBP SLG OPS

19 53 132 .220 .151 .371

but yes, he should be in there and Fontenot shouldn’t.

Fontenot was hitting .350 against left handed pitching in AAA!!

Let the Rooks play when they are the ones WINNING the games!

Pagan .294/.357/.867

Murton .259/.338/.683

DeRosa .264/.347/.790 and .222/.300/.633 v. Washburn

Higher avg, obp and ops. Better chance to score in front of DLee. Batting DeRosa later so him and Theriot can team up possibly for more offense after Murton and Barrett get thrown out on the basepaths.

he always does this though, doesn't he?

come up, perform well enough in the first couple weeks to fool everyone, then tanks.

You just wont get off Murton or Barret. You act like they are the only ones on this team who has made numerous baserunning mistakes. Lee, Derosa, Theriot, and Soriano have made more than one this year as well, but you just keep seeing what you want to see if it makes you feel better.

Also, you list Pagans stats as if they mean something. How many AB's has he had? Minus his first week up where he was killing the ball, hes went back to the below average player he is.

This is only his 2nd year in the bigs and he was hurt most of last year.

But if you look at his game logs, he appears that he will be a streaky type hitter at the pace he is on.

Quality 3 position OF back up though with speed. Just need to get him some work and with the lefty going, probably a good nite to rest Pie.

I am on Barrett b/c he is responsible for the lack of production in the middle of the order this year and is a horrific defensive catcher.

Barrett and Murton have both been thrown out at 3b more this year than all the others combined. Why we have a catcher get thrown out stealing 3b 2 times in a week is a mystery i would like solved. Murton is just a lack of concentration. I also used to be on Alou. Stupid baserunning is stupid baserunning. Doesnt matter who is doing it.

There is so much hyperbole in that statement that Im not even going to try arguing.

Yea, I don't know who the guest conductor is tonight (saw it in the Muskat article, forgot), but talk about small shoes to fill.
