I was just browsing the Cubs Schedule and I noticed that the games on June 13-17 are all on WGN?

Can this be right? I don't remember such a string ever before.

i do...about 15-20 years ago when wgn showed nearly every cubs game, or so it seemed.

Yep.....It's been a LONG time.

Coming home from school (talking middle/elementary here), I could almost rely on there being a game either just getting over or just starting.

When I was growing up WGN televised all the games except Saturday network blackouts and some late night west coast games.

Those were the days. If WGN still did that, I wouldn't have to shell out money for extra innings.

WGN's production and presentation > CSN

in every facet of the game. The thing I hate the most about CSN is that stupid theme song "swing batter, swing batter"

Ditto, except replace EI with Gameday Audio. Which, granted, does not cost that much, but it's still money I didn't used to spend...

I remember it very well, especially when I was a pup. I wonder one of the reasons why they did that so much was that Harry was very popular. I mean, in my opinion, ever since Harry passed, WGN just stopped doing it, or so it seems.

Really, broadcasting the Cubs games, WGN's ratings can't be any worse than Buffy, America Funniest Home Videos, etc etc. can it?

I don't think it had anything to do with Harry, because they were doing it long before he arrived. I'm not sure of the details, but I think I've read that MLB now has limits on how many games a superstation can carry. The Braves are in the same situation; most of their games used to be televised on TBS, but not nearly as many are any more.

I think that's a stupid rule that MLB have to limit how many games a superstation can carry.

Except for that, I actually like CSN's presentation better.

Both of them equally piss me off with the dumb score bars that are way too big and come up way too often though. All Cubs fans care about is how Central foes are doing anyway.

Agreed, but since when did MLB ever give a damn what fans think?
