I can't believe the line for this game was only -116 for the Cubs. I would have bet a grand.

I don't know how to interpret gambling lines for baseball, what does that mean?

Basically -116 means you have to bet $116 to win $100.

So there's no spread, it's a flat win or lose deal?

Mostly. You can bet spreads too, but they have lines like that attached. A straight spread would be .5 or 1 for nearly every game, and there wouldn't be enough nuance in the system.

If you bet a spread, it is usually something exagerrated like -2.5 at +225 (have to win by three, but it pays 2.25 for every dollar your bet)

Hope Marshall can go a while longer so I don't have to look at the bullpen.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gallagher throw a couple of innings.

I haven't seen Gallagher throw in quite a while. I do hope he gets in this game.

Seems like a good time to do it with a nice lead like this.

Now that I think about it, I might let him play RF.

Freakin Jacque.

With an almost definite rain delay on its way, I wouldn't be surprised to see Marshall go until then with Gallagher picking up after.

It will be a quick storm.

It also looks like there's a good chance the center of that cluster will pass just to the north of the stadium.

One could make a perfectly legitimate argument that Cesar Izturis is a better, more valuable baseball player than Jacque Jones.

Let us pause momentarily to consider the magnitude of that statement.

Wow.

Now consider that the Cubs haven't completely fallen off the map yet. Then consider what could be if the GM were only a LITTLE smarter.

I didn't think much of this at first, but when you factor in their positions and fielding abilities...

Alright Soriano. I want number 4!

Not too long ago, Pat and Ron listed the list of 15 ML players ever (5 AL, 10 NL) who have ever hit 4 in a game, which makes the feat only slightly more common than perfect games. I didn't realize it was so rare.
