In the off-season, I was really hoping that if Jim was going to hire someone who seemed like a baseball traditionalist, he'd hire Trammel. He didn't get near the credit he deserved for what he went through in Detroit and how much he helped the young kids. He really improved the team from when he took over. They just kind of stagnated their 3rd year. My dad who is a diehard Tiger fan was telling me 2 years ago how good the Tigers were going to be last year. So yeah I think Leyland did kind of walk into a good situation and Trammell kind of got thrown under the Bus.

 

I also think Trammell deserves more Hall of Fame consideration than he gets

Whitaker isnt on the ballot anymore because he got less than 3% the first time. His only shot is the Veterans Committee, and we all know how well that goes for players. Its a shame, he deserved better.
