Why would you take an effective pitcher for 5-6 innings and make him into a 1 inning guy every couple days?

I wouldn't, if he were moved to the pen i would like him to be used as the number one middle relief option. Many more oppourtunities than a closer. That said, with marmol called up, i would probably like to see if he can take over the middle relief "power arm" role and see what guzman go do as the #5.

I really like Dempster, but whoever classified him as a "novelty" is pretty much right. He may get the job done temporarily, but hes' been on a downward slope for a while now.

Not this year. Outside of the Shea meltdown, he's been doing fine.

What about packaging Eyre and Jacque Jones to Washington for Chad Cordero?

Ugh, please no. I've always felt that Cordero was a beneficiary of pitching at RFK.

Eyre to Cincy for Encarnacion. We all know how Cincy loves over-the-hill middle relievers.

did i miss the part where guzman was pulled from the rotation? when did that happen?

it hasn't happened. lou just said there would be some big changes soon. the rest is just speculation as to what those changes are.

That at least sounds like they are doing that to keep Guzman healthy, and not because they think he'd be more valuable in the pen. My vote would be for Marshall in the rotation.

That probably will not get it done, but I like the idea of adding Chad Cordero to the pen. It is going to take alot to get him.

Well, at least Piniella is going to use Gooz late in games. At least he recognizes the skills. It seems more like a move b/c of Guzman's injury concerns and the pen performance rather than any reflection on Gooz's performance as a starter.

Cordero's stock is pretty low right now. I'm not sure you make a deal involving anything more than our spare parts for a pitcher with a 1.90 WHIP and control issues. I'd certainly scout the heck out of Cordero before making any sort of trade offer.

So who's going in order to make room for Marshall?

So you are going to have 3 very similar lefties in the rotation?

They'll probably give Wade Miller another chance.

After all, he's a "warrior".

Wade's ready after his "rehab." He was with the team for the Mets series.

It's a shame they don't realize Guzman is better than Marshall or Miller.

STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID.

Seriously, what is wrong with these people? This is why everyone in the organization needs to be fired. Everyone. Guzman starting is so much more valuble than Guzman making the occasional middle relief appearance.

Jim Hendry is a flaming idiot for allowing this. Lou Pinellia is a bloody fool for doing this. And when our 5th starter sucks, he'll have no one to gripe to in his post game pity parties other than himself, for pulling a perfectly fine 5th starter for the sake of bullpen depth.

Wait until Guzman averages six appearances a month out of the bullpen.

We should move Z to the pen too. Lou can't be one-upped by Charlie Manuel.

I'm sure the realize this, but they have to do something about the pen. We have no late inning setup guy. With Guzman, Wuertz, and Marmol(?) well have guys that can strike guys out in the latter innings.

So we're going to have Wade Freaking Miller or Sean Marshall in the rotation?

Marmol is going to get lost in the shuffle in the pen anyways. What a joke.
