if the strike calls the Brewers complained about last night (at least those that I saw on BBTN) were the worst they've seen this year and the worst they will see, there will be no stopping them.

if the Cubs reacted that way everytime they had a bad third strike call this year, Lou would've had 10 ejections by now protecting his players. seriously? they get that worked up over those calls? granted I don't know how the game was called, but the pitch to Fielder was clearly a strike, the pitch to Jenkins was borderline at worst.

I have a feeling that their complaining isn't going to put them in the good graces of the umpires. You just don't show them up like that, especially on calls that really weren't that bad. May it be their downfall.

So since this thread was created the Brewers have gone 3-7. I'm no Stephen Hawking, but I believe that's less than a .500 record. Point being, let's not crown their asses quite yet; seeing as there are a few games left in the season.

And the Cubs have picked up .5 game in that time. Nobody is crowning their ass, they are expressing the need for a little urgency in turning things around. The Cubs have spent the past 3 years talking about how "early" it is to worry about the standings. For once I'd like to see the team play like it realizes games count in April and May and that big holes to start the season aren't something to scoff at.

I'm not ready to crown their ass, we took 2-3 from the Brewers first week of the season, all starters played in the series, who takes the first week of the season like its BullS**!, BULLS***! THE BREWERS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WHERE!

While the Brewers got out to a fast start, there is no guarantee that they will play at or above .500 from here on out. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games (the Cubs are 4-6 during the same period which is why they have picked up a game).

A quick glance at the Brewers' upcoming schedule shows that they have, what appears to be, a tough June schedule. They just lost 2 of 3 at home against the struggling Twins, in a series without Santana, and they will see MIN again along with Detroit and Texas on the road (the Cubs will also play the Rangers). Also, let's not forget that the Cubs will face the Brewers 5 times in June (and the Cubs are the only team in the division to win a series against them). It could very well be a great opportunity to shift the balance of power in the NLC.

The bottom line is the Cubs have to take care of their own business. I'm of the opinion that MIL will struggle and that there will be an opportunity for advancement in the division.

Ryan Braun is up. That is a huge upgrade for the Brewers lineup.

maybe... people would've thought Alex Gordon to 3B and Teahen to RF would be a big upgrade for the Royals' lineup, but Gordon has been awful. It might take Braun a while to adjust too.

I don't disagree at all, but Braun doesn't really have to do much to be a significant upgrade. Milwaukee's 3B are hitting .214/.320/.273/.593 this year.

i think braun can definitely beat that line...the kid hits it hard to all fields from what i've seen....sad to see him go, he's fun to watch.

They win 88 games. Will that be enough to win the division?

Since this thread was started the Brewers have dropped 10 of 15 games. If they play .500 ball from this point forward, they will finish with 85 wins. Will that be enough ??

The CUBS' magic number against the Brewers is down to 122 !!!

Go CUBS !!

The only team the Brewers are beating right now is themselves.

I was hoping I wouldn't be let down this year, but it looks that way right now. I knew that this team wasn't going to stay on the pace it was in the first 34 games when they were 24-10. But I also expected them to not go 10-24 in their next 34 which they seem content on doing.

And you're still 5 games in front. Relax...

Well I'm not freaking out or anything. I am just starting to feel a bit let down, or the same feeling I've had the past couple of years when they've had OK starts.

So I was thinking...I should likely change the title of this thread to...

If the Brewers play .500 from here on out they'll beat us by 35 games....

If the Brewers play .500 the rest of the way, they'll finish 84-78. Who's gonna beat them out ?? Not us !!

this is one sad division.
