Its time for another Will Ohman blows update.

In todays installment, Will walks the first batter of the inning that he was brought in to get specifically out. Heard this one before? Wait. Piniella leaves him in to get out of his own jam and to wade through the pinch hitters, and shock of all shocks...ends up blowing the game.

But if you missed it, no need to be upset, i am sure we will get to see it again in the next few weeks.

Ohman needs to go now. Japan, AAA, AA, another team, outer Zimbabwe, i dont care- just go.

0-3 5.27 ERA.

For crying out loud would they just give Pignatiello a 2 week trial in the bigs? What the hell do they have to lose?
What they have to lose is a shot at the #1 draft pick next year. Without Bad Ohman up here to forfeit games the Cubs may win too many.

It doesn't look to me that Lou considers Ohman to be a strict LOOGY.

Loogys do not exist.

will you please quit saying this? everyone gets it -- you don't think teams should rely on loogy's b/c of roster space and strategy. but you can't deny that there are lhp out there that excel at getting lefties out and get righties out. thus, loogy's exist.

you saying loogy's don't exist is like me saying sacrifice bunts in the first inning don't exist b/c i don't like them strategically.

Chalk it up boys. Now 0-4.

Bullpen is trashed. Need your "Loogy" boy to step up and swallow a couple of innings tonight and he chokes miserably. What a freaking waste of talent.

DFA immediately. Bring me PIGS that fly!!!!!!

Does put us back on pace for 42 bullpen losses, blowing by the record of 39.

Chokes? He looked pretty good to me, and would have been just fine through 2 full innings if Barrett learns how to hold onto a freakin' baseball.

Don't worry about him. He just learned that if he keeps saying that "loogys dont exist" it pisses people off.

Those runners just didnt appear out on the basepaths by themselves.

Besides if you drink the Kool Aid around here, you would know that Barrett can do no wrong. He is the Golden Child.

[sarcasm] His defense has never cost us a single game this entire year. Any small defensive deficiencies he has are more than made up with his awesome offensive prowess as he is a force to be reckoned with. The .246/.305/.733 line isnt bad at all, because it fails to capture the true depth and meaning of the force that is Michael Barrett and the positive contribution he makes to his team. For those that dont understand this, we can only hope that they can become so enlightened.[/sarcasm]

Yeah DFA Ohman when the completely unuseable Scott Eyre is still on the bench. Wonderful idea. And let's pin all the blame on Ohman after the wonderful job that Theriot, Pie and Fontenot did of not knocking in a single run when the cubs had a bases loaded, no out situation in the 8th. The team gave up 5 runs in 13 innings, that's not terrible at all. As usual the offense was a steaming pile of crap and didn't put runs on the board (basically, two runs per nine innings against average pitching).

But yeah, it's all Ohman's fault.

Thank you, finally some sanity.

Absolutely...that 8th inning was horrendous.

Ohman actually pitched good for 1 2/3 ...and howry did very well.

The blame has to go on the missed opportunity in the 8th....

Plus the inning would have been over without a run scored if Barrett had caught the relay throw and applied the tag. The run scored because Barrett dropped it.

This can be argued many different ways. The run scored because there was a hit. The run scored because of the horrible throw. The game continued because of no offense. The Cubs lost the game and there are several different scenarios that led to the loss. This one is not all on Barrett. From where Jones was playing, he easily should have been able to give Barrett a throw that is easily caught.

I get the feeling that I don't like Ohman.

I like him more than Eyre. Plus, he wasn't used as a loogy last night. Then again, there was no choice.

On another note, why was Eyre warming up before Weurtz? Was Weurtz unavailable?

 curses and throws laptop across the room

????

Logic hurts.

Look, the bullpen did its job and did it great for 5 full freakin' innings last night while our offense decided it was too far past their bedtime and fell asleep. The 'pen has looked like hot garbage plenty of times this year, Ohman especially, but last night wasn't one of those times. This one is all on our lack of offense with prime scoring chances yet again.

I agree. I don't blame the game on Ohman at all. I blame it on a lack of runs given great opportunities and a crappy relay throw/catch.

And giving credit when its due, Ohman did not suck today.

On an 11 man staff he has to suck it up and get rightys out. He would have had Cesar not dropped the ball. But he did get the 2 lefties out and wasnt even close to walking anyone.

Without dempster for the next few days, everyone in the pen is going to have to be on their game and the starters are going to have to pitch into the seventh for us to have a chance.

10 man staff. And that's if Eyre does not count as a negative. :)
