No Maurice Clarrett this time, Raiders go with Johnnie Lee Higgins. I was really hoping he would fall to the Cowboys at the bottom of the 4th.

Interesting that Angelo went with speed over a little more size in Pittman.

Still need some OL help.

I don't find that suprising at all. Pittman would be a worse version of Benson, and APete has some bulk too. Why draft duplicate players?

Pittman is a very different back vs Benson. More of a slasher. He was held back at OSU because T. Smith ran alot with the ball. I think he is gonna be a stud in the NFL.

I agree with you on this one.... Pittman should have been picked hours ago.

Chargers take SEC boy Anthony Waters out of Clemson.

Hell I wish Clemson was in the SEC, the Rebels might win a few more games every year.

That's my bad, I don't know why I thought they were SEC.

I guess the Okwo pick wasn't too bad, my only worry is that Stanford players don't project well in the NFL. Yes there has been good ones but it appears more of the exception vs. the Norm. Edited by Soriano12

Okwo sounds like a potential Briggs replacement. Undersized (5'11 and change), but incredibly athletic with a high motor. He's pretty smart and should have an impact immediately as a gunner on special teams. However, he has durability concerns and needs to add some strength. He's a good pick.

The Wolfe pick is a weird one. He'll be a terrific complement to Benson as a speed threat who can catch the ball effectively. However, I have to wonder whether he'd have been available later in the draft. Northern Illinois has turned out some decent RBs in its time and Angelo has a proven history, so I'll defer to Angie no it.

He would have been there tomorrow, I think.

But, he has got to be the ultimate change of pace back, heh. So anyone who thought we had 2 of the same type of back, well now there's a changeup in the arsenal.

I do worry what might happen to the guy when he gets plastered by some nasty, hulking LB though.

Nuts! I was hoping he'd fall to the Bears and be the yearly "incredibly fast, but raw" pick in the same mold of Mark Bradley and Bernard Berrian.

If the Bears are going to imploy more shotgun, this is where he fits in. hes seems like a good fit for a running back to catch those screen and passes in the flat to utlize him in the open field.

Yeah, completely different. Benson's what 225-230? Pittman's 207, runs a 4.4-4.5. He's a completely different type of back.

Beekman has got to be one of those picks, IMO.

Manuel Ramirez and Doug Free are still out there too.

I do like both of those guys. If they are on the board, still decent pick ups.

I wonder where they would have gone if Grubbs was on the board at 31.

I'll give the benifit of the doubt on the other Bear picks, but Wolfe over Pittman is just not logical IMO.

Tank Tyler finally off the board to the Chiefs, very good value at this point.

Hope he can produce and stay out of trouble.

It's the aspx file format, not the tags.

Is that something that is just specific to this forum? I'm able to post aspx files on other forums.

Hadn't seen that Madden 08 spot with Hester before...

"But you still would never put, 'I'm gonna run the opening kick of the Super Bowl back for a touchdown.' Not in your wildest dreams."

Pretty awesome.

Just thought I'd give my feelings on the Titans horrible day.

To sum it up quickly: It sucked. In the first round with very good wide receiver Robert Meachem and also very good defensive end Anthony Spencer sitting there who do we take? Michael Griffin. Not the best player at his position (Reggie Nelson was) and that position WASN'T EVEN OUR BIGGEST NEED. Most opinions I heard on him after the pick? "He's too stiff," "I'm surprised the Titans went for this safety."

Second round, we take a running back (after taking a running back in the second round last season) who put up 3.5 yards per carry at Arizona. I realize there are a number of Pac-10 fans on the board that may take exception to this, but the Pac-10 defense is not generally the strong suit of the conference. And Chris Henry managed 3.5 yards per carry in it. Jamal Lewis carried for that and people are calling him old and washed up - at 26 years old. Doesn't bode well for Henry.

Third round. Oh, the third round. Charles Johnson, a good defensive end, Jonathan Wade, a very good CB, Johnnie Lee Higgins, a productive WR, were all there plus other good players and we take Paul Williams. A non-productive player at Fresno State. Great. He has all the tools, but he did next to nothing his senior year at Fresno State. He's no better than Courtney Roby, Roydell Williams and Brandon Jones who we have at receiver now. Why take him? We needed a receiver sure - but we needed an impact receiver that could be a #1 type of guy (Robert Meachem would have fit the bill perfectly, too bad he wasn't available when we picked - oh, wait  he was  ).

So yeah, I am extremely unhappy with our first day picks. Two of our three picks were high talent, zero production guys (Henry and Williams) and the other was the second best player available AT HIS POSITION. I just hope Mike Reinfeldt can pull a Floyd Reese and have a great second day. Probably not, I'm in a pessimistic mood right now.

.

Last year in the 2nd they balked on Devin Hester, at the last minute.

Not a good round for them of late.
