Link to Bazuin's scouting report from NFL draft countdown:

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/de/danbazuin.html

The link is really slow for me, so here's a few details:

Notes:

Nickname is “Buzz”...Had somewhat of a down senior campaign but that was due in part to his dealing with the death of his brother as well as a hospital stay to treat a case of sepsis...Could potentially be moved to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at the next level...May never be an All-Pro like Julius Peppers but should play in the league for a very long time and most certainly has starting potential.

They had him ranked a day one pick, so it doesn't sound like as much of a reach as I originally thought. I still don't get the DE thing, though but Angelo must want to start rotating new talent in for Ogun & Brown since it really helped generate pass rush for us last year with Anderson.

Why do the Bears seem to make constant picks on the D-line year after year?

Because getting pressure from the front 4 is perhaps the most important thing you need to do to run our defense, and by the end of the season that almost dissapeared.

Ogun and Brown have both been fairly dissapointing. At least one of them is leaving after this year. And you'd like a rotation of D-linemen, always fresh.

Huh? I don't see that at all.

Exactly how many sacks did they combine for in the final 8 games of the season?

5 or something?

Da Raidas take Quentin Moses...BUST!

Can a 3rd rounder really be a bust?

I guess it depends on how look at it. Moses was once though of as the 2nd or 3rd best DE and has really taken a fall. I don't even see him making any real contribution on their defense.

That's 8 games. You can trace the Bears rise from last place back to the acquisition of Ogun. I assume you watched the NFC Championship game, right? Ogun was an absolute terror on the biggest stage.

Bears don't need anymore depth at DE..Mark ANderson is our 3rd DE

I hope he moves to OLB.

FWIW, this was my attitude in 2002 when the Eagles already had one of the best secondaries in the league with Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent at starting CB, Al Harris at nickel and Brian Dawkins at free safety. The Eagles picked CB Lito Sheppard, CB Sheldon Brown and S Michael Lewis with their three picks in the top two rounds. A couple of years later, they cut Taylor and Vincent loose, and those guys dropped off pretty sharply in ability. Meanwhile, Sheppard and Brown are Pro Bowl caliber players, and Lewis was until he completely forgot how to play football this past year.

The point is, if the Bears think guys are getting up there in age, it's worth thinking ahead to the future. And at the very worst, you aren't going to waste picks at CB and DE. If a guy is a good player, he'll get on the field.

Denver grabbed Ryan Harris, I'm really glad Dallas didn't grab him. He might succeed in their system, but I think he's destined for backup status if anything.

Arizona gets a steal in Buster Davis.

damn, I got him at the bottom of the third round in the nsbb draft

I know he did great in the ACC and all...but I would just have a hard time trusting a 5'9 LB in the NFL. Those guys are just too big and strong.

Coakley and Nguyen weren't too bad for the Cowboys.

Precisely. The Bears have done a very good job of drafting defensive players in recent years and it's inevitable that players will become injured, leave due to free agency, and/or drop off in terms of their effectiveness.

Bazuin should provide some nice depth. Considering this team had trouble generating pass rush in the latter half of last season (in part due to the loss of Tommie Harris), a guy like Bazuin could really help on those days when Brown and Ogun aren't getting the job done.

Vikings get Marcus McCauley. What's the general consensus about him?

He's got good size and speed, but he is very inconsistent and gambles too much. He's a good pick at this point.

Ravens take Yamon Figurs, I really like this guy. He might be the best return-man in the draft. Overall he's probably about as good as Ginn but with less exposure.

Good lord, just was reading up on the Saints new CB Usama Young...he runs a 4.3 and a has a 43 inch vertical!

That's nearly 4 feet in the air.

He may be the best pro-football prospect that many fans have never heard of. But scouts are getting quite familiar with Kent State cornerback Usama Young, who could be the top sleeper in this weekend's NFL draft.

Not invited to the NFL Combine in February, Young (5-foot-11, 196 pounds) created a buzz at Kent State's March 9 Pro Day when he unleashed a 4.39-second clocking in the 40-yard dash, a 43-inch vertical leap and 10-foot, 11-inch standing broad jump.

I think he's this year's Ricardo Colclough.

Falcons get Laurent Robinson. He was a real sleep that shot up the boards after the combine. He is raw but should be a good #2/#3 down the road.
