This one is a head-scratcher for me. I guess we aren't happy with Alex Brown and Ogun now?

I'll be interested to hear the rationale on this one.

umm we don't need a DE! uggg what gives!

I'd have to imagine they see him as a LBer option.

Here's his website.

Bazuin's stats from the last 2 years:

Jr: 74 tackles, 26.5 for loss, and 16 sacks

Sr: 67 tackles, 15 for loss, and 10.5 sacks

Yeah, but the Bears are pretty much fine at DE already.

This is one of the Bears Annual "Why Did We Make That Pick?!" picks.

See: Devin Hester, Lance Briggs, Mike Brown, etc.

I like what I'm reading about him. He needs to put on some muscle and face better competition, but he can drop back in coverage and rush the passer pretty well. Sounds kinda like Alex Brown, imo.

Not at 4.77 he's not. He'll get raped in the NFL at that speed playing linebacker (NFL network listed his 40 at 4.77)

DE isn't a two-player position. The Eagles rotate two entire defensive lines. Obviously the Bears like this guy enough to think he can fit into a DE rotation with the guys they already have.

He's a tad bit undersized as a DE, but he's very strong and quick. I think he can move to WLB and still be able to produce pretty good.

Not to tear the guy down, but those stats were against some very mediocre competition.

Very true, Jason Babin came out of the same conference and hasn't faired so well at the professional level.

Why do the Bears seem to make constant picks on the D-line year after year?

Because getting pressure from the front 4 is perhaps the most important thing you need to do to run our defense, and by the end of the season that almost dissapeared.

Ogun and Brown have both been fairly dissapointing. At least one of them is leaving after this year. And you'd like a rotation of D-linemen, always fresh.

Huh? I don't see that at all.

Saints pass on McCauley and take Osama bin Laden...oops I mean Usama Young.

Hmmm...he looked good on his highlight reel on NFL Network...but those are highlights.

I trust Sean Payton though.

The Cowboys brought him in for a private workout, and were really impressed by him. I was kind of surprised that he went this high though.
