Looks like the Lions are going with Calvin Johnson.

CJ with Roy Williams. Could be scary. But we've heard that before in Detroit.

Apparently the Titans have been talking with Detroit about Mike Williams.

Radio didn't even cut back for the pick.

I thought you were chair shopping.

Being picked up from work in 30 mins...

Sudden conference call popped up that will last almost 12 hours.

Who's going to throw him the ball? And who's protecting the QB? I know Calvin Johnson made Reggie Ball look good, but let's see if he makes Kitna look good.

Never as a Bears fan have I been happier with a divisional rivals pick.

Thank you, Matt Millen, for guaranteeing your franchise will do nothing for at least 5 more years.

Of course, I've said that before and been embarrassed. But i'm pretty sure things wont turn out well for a team that drafts 4 receivers in the first round in 5 years.

And with the 2nd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select WR Calvin Johnson!

Hold on to Calvin Johnson. He's going to be a stud.

You're really going out on a limb with that prediction. ;)

Ha, true. However, just because someone projects to be a stud player, doesn't mean they will. If that wasn't the case, the Lions would not being selecting their 4th WR in the past 5 year.

I'd love that if we give no more than a fifth. Absolutely no more than a fourth.

Considering the Pats have offered a 6th for Randy Moss, I think you don't have much to worry about.

Why are you happy that Detroit selected the best prospect available in this draft and one of the better prospects ever coming out of college? The whole 4 WR in 5 years thing doesn't really matter when 2 of them turned out to be nothing. Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson together would be scary good. Kitna is a decent enough QB for a couple years, but that will eventually need to be addressed. Drafting the best player available is never a bad idea. All that said, there's still a possibility of Johnson being traded.

Johnson will help the Lions...if he's not traded. He's as good as they come coming straight out of college. This could end up similar to when Eli Manning and Philip Rivers were swapped after the fact...if TB takes Gaines Adams look for them to continue trying to make a deal with Detroit. 6th or 7th is even better. I like the idea of reuniting him with Norm Chow.
