figured somebody would start an official NFL Draft thread, so I took the initiative.

I'll start it off with some news about my boy P-Willy:

http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl

Neil Stratton, of Inside the League, reports that the Houston Texans, as previously rumored, will swap first-round draft picks in this year's NFL Draft with the Denver Broncos Friday, April 27, in exchange for the Broncos' second-round pick, No. 56 overall. The Broncos would select Mississippi LB Patrick Willis with the No. 10 pick in the draft.

I'd love for him to go to Denver, they are a good organization.

There is a rumor floating around that the Raiders have already come to agreement on a contract with Brady Quinn and will take him #1 overall.

I have heard the same thing. From what I hear, Calvin and Russel both wanted 15% more than Williams got last year, and Quinn would take a lot less, close to what was paid last year for Williams.

From what I've been hearing, the Raiders gave Quinn an offer that would be considered a low-ball offer for a 1st overall pick but would be better than what he'd get in the 7-9 range. If true, it is a smart move on the Raiders part.

I prefer Quinn over Russell, but if I were to Raiders I wouldn't take either of them (or CJ for that matter). They won't be able to do anything offensively until they get that OL straightened out, and Joe Thomas would be a good start to that. I can understand the hesitation to do so on their part because of Gallery, but I don't think you can let past failures influence your future too much.

=D> Post of the freakin' day. Quinn is a late first rounder. Way to screw the pooch AGAIN, Oakland.

The Packers have offered their 1st and 4th round picks in this year's draft to the Chiefs for Larry Johnson. There's no word on if the trade will actually happen or not, though.

OMC, I noticed the sig and thought you'd be interested in this story. I was driving to take the baby to stay with the grandparents and take the route through Bruceton, Tennessee. There are banners everywhere announcing a big fish fry and "pre NFL Draft party" in honor of Patrick at the local city park. I may be going through town while it's going on tonight and stop by.

As in years past, I'll be wating by the phone- just in case.

I sent some game tapes to a few teams, but since I'm not 3 years removed from high school I won't be eligible. Hopefully they can overlook that, I've got my phone sitting on the charger waiting for that call.

There's absolutely no reason for the Chiefs to do that trade. The Packers only have the 16th pick, and LJ is one of the best in the game. If the Packers wanted to land LJ, they'd have to do a Ricky Williams-style deal to land him, I'd bet.

Asa Chiefs fan, let me add that while I do not support that trade....

Johnson is 27

Rushed 400 times last year

Wants a 8 year deal after this season.

That's great. He is going to get killed next year if he's in Oakland.

I feel sorry for the person that does if either QB ends up in Oakland. Neither of them are sure enough that if either one ends up in a system like that, the chances of busting go way, way up.

Awesome :-)

I can't wait to see what he does in the NFL. I just hope he's not in the NFC south, or the NFC for that matter. I don't want him to kill Reggie Bush.

Is it a bannable offense to make fun of all the Quinn-bashers when he inevitably plays well in the NFL? (Except of course he goes to Oakland, then all bets are off)

Yeah, I've heard that but I've also heard that we offered a 4th rounder to Oakland for Moss.

I think Moss coming to Green Bay is much more likely than LJ coming to the Pack.

And there's a rumor that the Raiders would trade down to the 3rd pick and get Braylon Edwards from the Browns so Cleveland could take Quinn.

I could see this making much more sense than the Raiders drafting Quinn. Then the Raiders could take Thomas at the 3rd pick.

Who the hell would be Oakland's QB if they took Thomas (not saying taking Thomas is a bad idea).

Doesn't make sense. If the Raiders aren't getting Quinn, then he'll be there for the 3rd pick. No need for Cleveland to trade Braylon. That sounds like a ploy by the Raiders. "Give us Braylon, or we'll draft Quinn". I think Cleveland like Russell better anyway.

That's what I hear as well. I would think that if the Browns were going to trade up it would be for Russell.

They are now reporting that the Houston-Denver trade doesn't exist. It wouldn't have made sense for them to have traded simply draft picks today anyway-that trade wouldn't come until it actually came to the Houston pick and Denver had a player in mind, but the report is now that there haven't even been serious discussions of a swap. Strange.
