You must love me because you're the one who replied to my post first.

Oh man, I can actually see the e-steam coming out of your virtual ears. What do you say we actually get back on the point? DLee had better hit a home run soon, he's not going to keep hitting at this level unless his power comes back.

No steam coming out of my ears; I'm as strong willed as you... Back on point, I'm not worried about DLee's power because he's hitting for average and getting on base at a high rate.

without home runs his SLG will have a tough time maintaining. his BABIP is like .460! when his BABIP comes down and he's not hitting for power, he's going to be very bad.

I wouldn't say very bad -- he does still have strong plate discipline -- but his BABIP is 3rd highest in all of baseball. If there weren't a physical issue in play I wouldn't be concerned. But considering that he suffered a major wrist injury, I think it'd be silly not to be concerned about his lack of power since it happened.

very bad is hyperbole, but he won't be nearly as good or as valuable.

I'm glad you're keeping a tally. You must be an undercover mod. Oh wait...

If you aren't going to be serious, then I'm done here. I thought we were having a detailed statistical conversation here.

You're the one who jacked the thread by telling me to "move on." You're not a moderator.

I actually finished second in the public vote for moderator back in 2001, and I'm assistant regional moderator at the moment, so move on.

Winner.

I still maintain Slappy or even, Eckstein will hit a HR before Lee does.

That has nothing to do with how many he will hit this season.

Neither does the rest of the thread.

Why does it matter when he hits a homer? He's still hitting well and that's all that matters. This is overblown.

What does that have to do with what gflore said?

Comparing him to Juan Pierre or David Eckstein is ridiculous. Even if both of those guys hit homers tomorrow it wouldn't prove that Lee can't hit home runs.

No one compared him to them, give me a break. Someone said he thinks they will hit a HR before he does. That's not even close to the same thing.

Then why name two extremely light hitters? You give me a break.

No...YOU give me a break.

It's like having Mark Grace back. I don't think we can afford that. The Cubs offense counts heavily on 3 guys(DLee, Fonz, Aram) hitting homers in large numbers. Also Fonz is being paid way too much to just be a doubles hitter. We need more homers now.

I am a tad concerned of D Lee's lack of power so far.

He had at least 2 that I saw the wind took away, so I'm not conerned. It's only a matter of time...

Even if he had hit 3 or 4 at this point, I'd still think that trading Z for a bat a la Arod or Cabrera for #3 is best and Lee being the permanent #2 hitter is best. Lee is just so damn good at getting on base, and any power he would have there would just be delicious cake.

yeah i think a lot of us agree that this would be best, unfortunately the Marlins and Yankees don't agree

I bet the Yankees might agree, especially with their pitching in shambles right now.

It would be a higher profile shambles.

Do you really think Z is going to continue sucking? He's been terrible pretty much every April of his career. He's always been a slow starter.

We need to get Cerano to use his voodoo to trick the yanks or marlins into said deal...

Personally, I'd like to trade Z out of the national league.

I think he's just saying that right now there would be absolutely no way that the Yankees would trade the hottest hitter in the league for a pitcher who has an ERA over 7 and is due for a huge contract at the end of the year. The fans have a love-hate relationship with A-Rod-right now they love him, and they would lynch the Yankees front office if that happened.

Now if Z starts dominating, and A-Rod struggles for a month or two, it might become possible.
