Okay, I know its a little early but the overplaying of this song combined with today's transpirings brought this on. Instread of crying in yet another beer, brother Bilo and I wrote a song. Feel free to add verses if you like, its quite liberating. I know it sounds negative, but you all know how we feel. We're just having fun here, I hope to god its wrong.

Sung to the tune "Our Country" by John Mellencamp

The optimism starts in Mesa every year

Then Wood and Prior both get hurt

And optimism turns to fear

Here comes more excuses

And simulated games

These are our Cubbies

From Santo's pissed calls

To booted ground balls

This teams as lifeless

As the ivy on the walls

These are our Cubbies

They make a no name lefty look

Like a hall of fame ace

I'd love to land a slap across

Soriano's face

If he could only take a pitch

And perhaps clog a base

These are our Cubbies

Blame poor fundamentals on broadcasters and day games

These are our Cubbies

The curse is still alive

The frustrations' busting through

I believe this loss belongs to folks like Z and Lou

The voices of anguish echo from Clark and Addison

These are our Cubbies

From the east coast to the west coast

This team is so toast, they're done

These are our Cubbies

I hope its too late to turn this thing around

I'm not sure anything would change if Arod come to town

Until then all you can do is pound your Old Style down

These are our Cubbies

As an aside, does anybody have some soundbites from Ronnie at today's game. I can only imagine his fuming.

I'm more curious to find soundbits of Sweet Lou after the game. And by sweet, I mean super pissed and ready to kill some crappy ballplayers.

Edit - good job with the lyrics in the original post, btw.

I'm not going to lie but I stopped reading right when I read it was sung to the tune of that god awful Mellencamp song for the Chevy commercials.
