if a pitcher is having a blister problem, is it legal to have some sort of foreign substance on his hand?

It's not. I remember a pitcher got in trouble for trying to put glue on a blister before he pitched.

what about liquid band-aid? probably not.

can't they claim that blood flying off the ball could pose a health risk?

Game Notes.

After dropping 2 of 3 games in Cincinnati to begin their 2007 campaign, the Chicago Cubs tonight play the first of 3 games this weekend in Milwaukee to wrap up a season-opening 6-game road trip in anticipation of the club’s Wrigley Field opener this Monday vs. Houston.

With a win tonight, the Cubs would avoid their first 1-3 start since 2005…the club began the 2006 season with 3 wins in its first 4 contests.

Monday marks Chicago’s 92nd home opener at Wrigley Field, the start of an 8-game homestand…in fact, after this weekend, the Cubs play 14 of their next 16 games at the Friendly Confines from April 9-25, all home games save a brief 2-game, mid-week trip to Atlanta April 18-19.

Hard-hitting journalism at its finest.

I am OK with Floyd starting until he shows me he sucks at fielding or his bat dies.

i'm not okay at stunting the growth of a cheap, young outfielder that we should be counting on being a mainstay in the lineup for the next 10+ years. never mention that he had the top OBP on the team last season.

lou is beginning to disappoint me already.

bruce, next time you talk to him, tell him that i say he's being dumb.

I dont mind it so much..Because our lineup is completely stacked with righties..You gotta switch it up a little and put another lefty in.I hate Floyd in the field though..Lets just hope he dosen't make any big mistakes thatll cost us. I really don't wanna go 1-3

I agree with Sully here a little bit. I want to see Murton play. But since it's only the first few games. Their share of games really can't be predicted throughout the whole season. You can't figure, well floyd 2, murton 2. Murton will only get 300 AB. Give it some time and let's see who starts more. Remember Lou did say earlier that he'd want to use floyd sparingly early and save him for a late run. He might be playing matchups or just seeing if floyd can handle the position. Or maybe he feels we really need a win here and to put as much offense on the line-up as possible.

Murton hasn't looked very comfortable in the batter's box the first couple of games, so I don't have a problem with Lou starting Floyd. I will be watching this one tonight. I'll also take the under for Hill's strikeouts. I'm hoping for good things from him though.

I'm surprised that with Derosa hitting as well as he has, that Lou hasn't tried him in 2nd spot, at least when Murton isn't starting.

Maybe it's because he and izturis are the only ones hitting behind lee and ram to drive them in? barret and jones have done pretty much, nothing so far.

I had heard today on the radio that the Brewers statium has a roof but no internal heating so the roof just acts as a giant umbrella. Is it going to be hella cold in there tonight?

Well the reverse of that is that Soriano and Jones aren't hitting, so Lee and A-Ram have no one to drive in. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

With no wind coming in from the outside, 40,000 people, and the sun to provide from warmth. It will probably be far from cold.

Either way. Everybody INFRONT of and BEHIND lee and ram need to start hitting. I think we can all agree on that.

i'm all sorts of about having floyd start in april when it's cold, more likely that his hammy or achellies(sp) will snap like a rubber band.

with that said, this game is probably going to be played indoors, so murton should start.

Don't worry about it being cold inside of Miller Park. You should be fine in a T-shirt and a sweatshirt. If you get cold easily, bring a light jacket. I was at the Dodger/Brewer game on Wednesday night and I had a sweatshirt on with a jersey over it and was perfectly comfortable and it was colder than it is going to be this weekend. The walk to and from the stadium on the other hand was cold so if you can't tough that out, bring a winter jacket, but you won't need it in the stadium.

Enjoy the games.

Speaking of hitting. Derosa has looked pretty good behind the plate so far. If he can solidify 2B with good defense and hitting, he will look like a very good pickup.
