Ted Lilly was quite impressive tonight guys, I hope this continues throughout the season. But I do think the offense needs to kick it into gear, and Dempster continues to scare....

Four runs from our offense wasn't bad for conditions being as bad as they were. The ball simply wasn't traveling. I think our guys were swinging at too many bad pitches though. That Arroyo slider or whatever that thing is was fooling everyone.

Extremely happy with Lilly tonight though. I'm with you, I wasn't ready for that at all.

I don't have any issues with the offense. The weather was brutal tonight and Arroyo had filthy stuff. Harang was outstanding as well. Murton looked terrible against Harang.

This team will be scoring plenty of runs. We just need performances on the mound like Lilly had tonight more times than not, and they will win lots of games.

Lou cracked me up heading out to the mound tonight. I was thinking to myself, he isn't trying to boost his confidence here (on his way to the mound).

Haha, yeah, that was hilarious. You could tell part of what he said, and it definitely wasn't meant for children's ears.

Yes, please. I missed that part of the game.

We're up 3 [expletive] runs, now throw a [expletive] strike!

That was the gist and the length of the visit, that might be longer than the visit though.

Yeah, visit was pretty short. Enough for anyone watching to get a laugh out of it, and enough to scare Dempster just a tad. I don't even think he made it all the way to Demp. He just said what he had to say as he was walking, then turned around.

Arroyo's stuff looked nastier than Lilly's, but oddly enough, it appeared a lot of the Cub hits today came off of breaking balls.

I'm pretty pleased we could score 4 runs off of Arroyo's A stuff in those kind of conditions.

His style of pitching usually gives the Cubs fits, it's good to get some breaks as well (the botched bunt by Lilly).

The best part of Lou's visit was that Dempster delivered the next pitch before Lou even reached the dugout steps. He definately lit a fire under his touchous.

Another note, Lilly had the no-hitter going, then when the inning ended they showed some commercial with a freaking GOAT eating copy paper or something.

First batter gets a hit.

It's an Aflac commercial. The goat is bad in it or something. So maybe the Cubs need Aflac to win the World Series.

while i don't think yelling at players for the sake of "showing emotion" is a very intelligent or effective thing to do, for crying out loud--lou said the exact right thing in the exact right way.

throw strikes or die.

he had FIRE! and INTENSITY!

I love Lou. He showed more emotion tonight than that other toothpick sucking nitwit did in 4 years combined.

GO LOU!

I love Lou. But honestly Dusty DID show some emmotion the first couple of years. And had a real Gem when he threw his hat, threw the line-up card, and threw just about anything close to him while a'shoutin. And after that, He was "embarrassed" doing that infront of his son, and never did it again.

He didn't really yell. He showed "TUFF LOVE", and that's exactly what our team needs to be honest with you. Nothing better to get this team to stop underperforming than some tuff strict love.

while it's entertaining to watch a manager have a meltdown on the field, it doesn't do much for the team. i'd rather lou not have a reason to throw a base or go after the closer physically. but dempster better throw strikes.

I don't disagree with you at all. Lou wasn't "physical" at all. But it was an emmotional type strict order. And players can respond to that. People can make of it all they want, but that type of passion for the game and passion for winning can really get the players to perform.
