I went to the MLB Media Center schedule to log in and the audio came up right away.

Leadoff walk to Cliff Floyd.

Me too - but it doesn't even give me the opportunity to log in. Just opens the media player and sits there with the MLB logo.

The only thing I can suggest is logging all the way out and restarting your browser. :?

Pagan grounds out, 1-3 I think.

6-1 Cubs through 3

Tried that - but will try again!~

nobody answered my theriot question

I'm no expert but I would say that he has plus speed. Above average but not in Pie territory.

That's what I meant. But Theriot seems to be a much better base-stealer than Pie, same thing with E. Patterson too. Guess it's just a matter of Pie becoming more experienced at reading pitchers.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the announcer of the Royals (small market club) is jealous of the resources that Cubs threw at a poor 2006 ballclub.

Is this massive dead air?

you can't get in from the main mlb page. You have to go in from the cubs page or from their schedule page.

Hill: 4 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1 HR.

Three doubles and one HR...Rich must be hanging a few curves or not locating his FB in the zone too well.

Hill doesn't seem sharp today.
Hill is suspetable to the HR ball. So is Lilly. So is Marquis. This is my biggest fear for the Cubs this year.

whatever, the Cubs play in a big market and they were God-awful last year... I don't feel bad about them spending a lot of money. They're still not in Yankees/Red Sox territory.

I'm with you here. I don't care that they mention it. Maybe it will stop them from talking about Steve Bartman.

With Hill I don't mind as much, because aside from the home run ball, he's much less hittable than Lilly. Also, if his new-found control of the past two seasons is for real, his walk rate might be in the 2-3 BB/9 IP range. He'd sort of be like Curt Schilling, who gives up a lot of homers, but because he keeps his WHIP down, they're more likely to come with fewer baserunners.

For Lilly, it may be a bigger problem because his WHIP projects to be around 0.1-0.2 higher than Hill.

I'm not worried about Hill. I've been pleasantly surprised that his curve ball has been decent in AZ. He's gotten the least number of CL innings. I think getting regular work, when the season starts, will benefit him.

And the fact that his breakingball should actually break a lot better in Chicago than in Arizona.

The biggest worry I had was that in the layoff between the end of last season and spring training, he'd lose the feel that he had for much of 2006 and get back some of the wildness that plagued him during much of his minor league career. But it's actually quite the contrary - he's really attacking batters and his control has been great all spring. I'm quite optimistic about how he'll do this year.
