Cubs will now travel back to Mesa, AZ to face off against the Kansas City Royals... who are 9-14 this spring.

This game will be broadcasted on WHB Radio for the away time... I assume thats for Kansas City and the area around it. That same broadcast will be available on GameDay Audio.

Rich Hill will face off against Jorge De La Rosa.

Go Rich!

I hope he can have day like Miller and Lilly. It will probably be easier since its against the almighty Kansas City Royals.

MLBTV! Get'em Hill!

Hmmm, this game isn't on the MLB.TV schedule. It only shows Gameday Audio (Royals broadcast).

But isnt that only accessible through MLB.TV? The GameDay Audio??

I was hoping Prior was pitching tomorrow. Are they holding him out till Wed?

Yeah, that's been mentioned a couple times.

You can subscribe to gameday audio separately from mlb.tv.

I don't think this one is televised.

When you subscribe to MLBTV you get Audio also. It's a package. But yes, no TV, just Audio. Arhh!

FYI, Bruce Miles will be on The Score, talking Cubs, at the top of the hour.

What did da man say? :)

The podcast will be available soon but he had some encouraging things to say.

  • He views this as the best camp he's seen in quite some time.

Piniella is having a direct effect on the players production

The Cubs would have been happy to get something from Wood or Prior but weren't counting on either.

Expects Piniella to be more firery than he has been saying

Jacque Jones is happy being a Cub

Soriano will be serviceable in center

Has appealed to the pride of players, like Aramis, to get them to perform

First base coach Matt Sinatro is Lou's confidant

Lou has been honest and refreshing to the media

I'm sure there was more but that was the gist of it.

Just speaking more to Lou's effect on players' production/performance, Bruce indicated that Lou has no qualms holding a one-sided conversation with a player and basically sets an expecation for the player to meet.

Bruce posed an incredulous rhetorical question asking why the previous managerial regime couldn't get players to do certain things, specifically referencing Cedeno's walk totals and overall improvement this spring, pointing to a cohesive offensive philosophy on the field (and hinting that such philosophy - or at root a coherent approach - be used not only on the field, but also up the chain by the front office).

Categorically stated that Lou and his staff are placing expectations on the players and are driving it in to the players to meet them. ... Accountability is a nice change of pace.

Thanks for the summary. :D

Wow, was it really said like that? I know Wood's recent setback puts real gloom over his role this year, but why sound so hopeless about Prior already?

Not hopeless, just realistic.

Tune in to the Gameday Audio feed, and I hear the Beatles' "Something." Nice little surprise.

Any lineups yet? Bruce mentioned on the radio that The Riot would play RF today, I think.

EDIT: Okay, so the radio dj in KC just waited 30 sec to do a time check/mark for 2:45 pm. Man, that pace of life must be nice to tap into now and again.
