Tough luck for Wood. He had two ground ball DP balls that were spoiled by the hit and run and then Morales hits a pitch in and at shoulder level for a home run. Not trying to make excuses, but...well, yes I am.

i don't think wood threw the ball too poorly there....they got lucky on a couple of hit and runs and some kid came in and tomahawk chopped a home run....not a whole lot you can do about that.

They were getting a lot of contact on his high FB, which is disappointing.

But I liked seeing those ground balls - against a lot of teams, that would have been a GIDP.

I think he velo must be down. No way Morales catches up to a 98+ mph heater up in the zone on the first pitch he sees.

Ok, my cable and internet died right before the game started. How has the pitching looked?

Lilly pitched 6 shutout innings. Wood was not so fortunate in the top of the 7th.

Lilly looked very good, only giving up 4 hits and no runs in 6 innings. Wood had some tough luck, giving up 3 runs in 1 inning of work.

Was it just bad luck on Wood's part, or was this the kind of outing that puts him on the DL to start the year?
