I see Ronny is getting another test today. Hopefully, he is patient and gets good pitches to hit (or takes some walks).

What happened to Murton hitting 2? Is it me, or has it been a while since he's been up there? Are they just trying out different things? Because I thought Murton was pretty much gonna be in the 2-spot to start the season.

He just batted in the two hole on Friday.

Bruce wrote about the #2 batting slot in today's article.

Bruce Miles / The Daily Herald[/url]"]The second spot: Ryan Theriot, one of Lou Piniella’s five candidates for the No. 2 spot in the order, hit second Saturday.

Piniella’s five are Matt Murton, Jacque Jones, Mark DeRosa, Cesar Izturis and Theriot. The manager noted that DeRosa leads the team in walks with 10 in only 42 at-bats after being slowed by a stomach bug.

“Obviously, what you look for in that spot are three things,” Piniella said. “One, you’re going to have to hit the fastball, obviously; two, you’ve got to have a little semblance of patience because you’ve got to let (Alfonso) Soriano run; and then the third is you’ve got to hit the ball the other way because, assuming Soriano steals second, you’d like to see him hit behind the runner a little bit.”

If Lou is really so concerned with letting Soriano run, Murton is definately the best choice. He can hit the fastball and is patient, sure... but he was also one of the league leaders in GB% last year. That makes the running game a lot safer.

I'm watching the Disney thing before the game. . . . . I'm amazed at Scott Eyre's complete lack of an athletic body. He's all belly. Seems like a super nice guy, however. It makes me wonder what kind of athlete he'd be if he were in a little bit better shape.

What Disney thing?

When the Cubs players (past or present) were at Walt Disney World for the Cubs vacation promotion. It's on WGN right now-I'm not watching it that closely, but some of the interviews were interesting.

Hmmm, that must be on the Superstation (for out of towners). I'm watching WGN locally and Everybody Hates Chris is on. I've never seen the Disney interviews. :?
