It was only a matter of time.

Like I've said before, the Cubs should not release these reports. Just not make a big deal out of it and no one will notice. If it (supposedly) is a few days, then dont give the media something to get all hyper about.

I wholly agree! They could have kept it in-house.

Yeah not admitting when there was an injury to a guy has worked wonders in the past.

If it was really serious, which means it will last more than 1 week, then they should totally release it.

"He had a little strain in his triceps on the posterior, on the bottom, and not where he was cut [during surgery]," Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said. "We'll give him a couple days and let Mark [O'Neal, Cubs athletic trainer] work on him. I'm not anticipating any long-term difficulty. He'll skip the next couple days."

"Mark told me that [Wood] told him when he got done [on Sunday], he kind of extended longer with his stride," Hendry said. "Instead of taking a timeout and getting it fixed, he was striding past it to avoid the hole and felt a little strain under his arm. Hopefully, he'll be fine in a couple days."

He should have called out the grounds crew!

If Wood doesn't pitch for a few days, the media will notice and will start asking questions about it. Then if the Cubs say something, everybody will wonder why they didn't say something earlier. I would rather have them just say up front that something is wrong.

if they fail to report even the slightest of injuries, this starts to look a whole lot more like the original prior cover-up, and i don't think the cubs/tribco want to feel the backlash from that again

similar to prior, the cubs are not really counting on wood so anything from him is a plus. if lou is set on a 6 man pen, even if wood is hurt again they still have a pen of ohman, cotts, eyre, cherry, howry & dempster. btw, speaking of injuries, any word on wuertz?

Teams don't have to release any injury information. It's done as a courtesy to the public. I'm sure the Chicago media would have been sniffing around about Wood, but they could have kept quiet if it's only going to be a few more days. Releasing the info probably causes more of an issue than the actual incident warrants.

According the the XM guy it started when Lou said something in his post game comments about Wood would be taking a few days off with something that really wasnt serious. The reporter went on to say that Lou dosent realize yet that in Chicago, Wood / Prior everything is serious.

I see... He will learn!

Kerry Wood will be shut down for the next several days due to soreness in his triceps.Impact: If it's just a muscle issue, then it's something Wood could overcome in short order. However, these problems almost always seem to be more complicated than the Cubs first reveal. Wood seems unlikely to be ready for Opening Day. Ryan Dempster just gained a little more job security.

Talk about blowing something out of proportion...

I am not worried either, and that is because when I think of the Cubs in 07, I no longer even really associate Kerry Wood with the team. He's been out more than in. It's a BONUS if he comes back as a real contributor. I don't care if they release it or not at this point. The real truth is right around the corner at this point.
