Need something to do for 4th of July Weekend while the Cubs are on the road? How about taking in a Police concert at Wrigley Field?

Sting and the Police will headline a pair of nighttime concerts at Wrigley Field over July Fourth weekend, thanks to an ordinance advanced by a City Council committee Monday that requires the Cubs to give up a night game in return.

The Police won't make it official until Wednesday, when the full Council signs off. But sources said the band has agreed to play Wrigley on July 5 and 6.

In exchange, the Cubs agreed to donate $150,000 to neighborhood schools, take a one-year break from concerts and forfeit one of their 30 night games the following season. The Buffett concerts ended at 10:30 p.m. and seating was capped at the baseball limit of 41,000.

It looks like the Cubs will have to move a game currently scheduled for night to an afternoon start as part of the deal.

isn't the bolded part exactly why the Police broke up in the first place?

Basicly, yes. I read Stings autobiography and the split from concerts and royalties was 50% Sting, Andy Summers 25% and Stuart Copeland 25%. This tour is being split evenly between the three. Also no solo songs on this tour: Police songs only.

The Police have a few songs that accurately capture the Cub fan experience of recent years:

Murder by Numbers

King of Pain

Driven to Tears

Man, I'd love to see this concert. Any idea when tickets would go on sale?

Edit: I found some for $410 in section 510. Yikes

Impossible...there has been no official announcement from the Cubs so therefore tickets haven't been put on sale. Someone is looking to make a fast buck by ripping off an unsuspecting fool.

tickets will easily be at least 150 a pop...my buddy bought some mid level tickets to st. louis and he paid 220 a piece, which he is going to sell....a guy he knows unloaded his 2 for 1200 though.

btw, i think the police are horrible and i'm waiting for wrigley to actually have a good band/performer play there.

The Wrigleyville Neighbors get tickets set aside for them. You better believe I am going to scalp mine. Sting is 56 Years Old...this concert is gonna blow.

Sting is 56 Years Old...

So only young artists have good concerts?

yes.

Lets see, I've seen...

Paul Simon

Art Garfunkel (strangely, never together)

Joni Mitchell

Bob Dylan (a zillion times)

The Dead

Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise

Willie Nelson

Robert Plant & Jimmy Page

All of whom were "old" when I saw them, and all of whom put on great concerts.

So I'll have to disagree.
