Can you imagine a possible Butler-Davidson 2nd round game? How many 3 pointers would be taken-40 or 45 at least?

That would be awesome! I picked that matchup in one of my brackets. 8-)

Stanford was the last team in, but it really sucks that they have to play an away game against a 6 seed.

And if Davidson wins I'm ready and willing to declare Mizzou among the top 31 teams in the country(go go transitive property).

How does the last team in get an 11 seed?

Dear Selection Comittee,

Nice pick, going with Stanford and all.

Sincerely,

Syracuse, Air Force, Drexel, Iowa.....

Hooray for small sample size and making a judgment on one game.

why does it piss you off so much that people are saying stanford didn't deserve a bid?

Because they did deserve a bid. They had better wins and a better resume than other teams (Illinois and Arkansas).

And, in this case, it's not just Stanford. It's people making a judgment based on one game and using that game to show why a team did or didn't deserve a bid. Like I said earlier, Drexel lost in the first round of the NIT and I hear people saying (not necessarily on NSBB) that the loss proves Drexel didn't deserve an NCAA bid. If Illinois wins their first round game, people (most likely on here) will say that it proves that Illinois deserved a bid to the tourney.

They were the last team revealed on the CBS selection show but I would think Illinois, Arkansas, and Old Dominion were all picked after Stanford.

Ack, IMO then.

Illinois and Arkansas both had higher RPIs and SOS'. Stanford was 18-12. 18-12. They were SIX games over .500. Their RPI was 65. You're not going to convince me that they belonged in the tournament.

It's hard to tell for sure on that-the committee does move teams up and down 1 or 2 seed lines to fit some of the bracket rules. Any of those teams could have been the last team in.

if you don't think any of the teams I listed would have given Louisville a better game today you're the biggest homer ever

that's fine...i just find it hard to believe that you would be sticking up for any other team like you are stanford.

and after seeing what they've done today, how could people not think they didn't deserve a bid....they're laying an egg....yes, they're playing a good louisville team and yes they had to travel, but damn.

Agreed. But hey the selection committee does make mistakes. Teams that leave themselves vulnerable to the whims of the bubble can't complain too much though.

Teams sometimes just get blown out-Butler a few years ago was up 42-10 at halftime on the 7 seed Wake Forest. Every team in the tournament probably could have been closer than that. Does that mean Wake Forest didn't deserve their 7 seed? No-it's just that Butler was playing very well and WF was playing terribly that particular game.

Arkansas was 7-9 in the SEC West. 7-9. You should not be eligible to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament if you can't even finish .500 in your conference. As I said before, Illinois would have finished 7-9 had they played OSU and Wisconsin twice instead of two of a the bottom feeders twice.

Best wins:

Arkansas: Southern Illinois, Vanderbilt, WVU

Illinois: Indiana (2), Michigan St., Missouri,

Stanford: UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, USC, Virginia, Texas Tech

Wait, people are complaining about Stanford at 18-12 and you want Iowa at 17-14? Brilliant.

It's a little ridiculous to talk about small sample size here. What are we supposed to do, give Stanford 100 games to get into the second round before determining they were a bad selection.

Why is it ridiculous? People are jumping to conclusions based on one game. Do you say a baseball hitter sucks because he goes 0-4 with 4 K's one day? Of course not. He had one bad day just like Stanford is having one bad game.
