Woohoo! I just ordered mine from Cox Cable. Thx to whoever posted the good news in this thread. The only bad thing is that I don't think any of the games will be in HD :( Oh....and the other bad thing is that the Cubs lost today.

Did you call or find it on line?

I called. BTW, it turns out that they are already showing the free preview games. My cable company's website doesn't mention that they have a deal....and my program guide doesn't list the channels as MLB Extra Innings. But I called and the first thing I heard was a prerecorded message saying they had the MLB Extra Innings package and there is a free preview. I flipped the channel on my TV while I was on hold and sure enough, the games were on for free (in my case on some of the NHL Center Ice channels.) I ordered the package and got the early bird price (I forget what it was but I believe it was in the $150 or a little lower range.)

Cox cable right? Where are you (if you don't mind telling me!)

Masterful move by MLB. Now they not only get DirecTV's $750 million, but they get to double their pleasure with cable, too.

This has to rank as one of the greatest sports broadcasting money-grabs in history. Nice work.

Actually I think it's a $700 million deal that iN Demand and DirecTV split; so each pays $50 million per year. If, for example, Dish Network were to get in on the deal, they would split $100 mill three-ways... I think that's what I understood.

My cable company wasn't ready yet. They are calling me back. Hopefully they this this done soon, I want to be able to tape tomorrow's game when I go to work.

Oh, and also: I don't know what the regular price is, but they are going to offer the package for $159 for a "short time;" so I'm guessing that means a couple weeks. That's the early bird price, and then they'll jack it up later on.

I live in Newport News, VA. I don't know if they'd do their sports packages the same way in Tulsa. If you have digital cable already though, you should flip through the NHL Center Ice stations and see if any of them has MLB Extra Innings schedules or games. The program guide doesn't list it but it's there for me.

To anyone who happens to live in a Charter Cable area...It would be great if you'd give them an e-mail/call whatever...and bug the hell out of them to provide it, even if you don't plan on getting it...they say they are "working on it" but I'd guess that the more people that ask, the harder they'll work...

I still can't order it here yet. They just told me either later today or tomorrow morning. Just checked my MLB EI channels and they aren't up and running with that yet, either.

Below is a copy of the text of my recent on-line "chat" with a Charter rep...if she's telling the truth I'm :D :D :D

Craig: Thank you...you are my hero!

Jenny: Yes.

Craig: Ok...and sorry to be repetitive, but just to check, you are saying that Charter will be carrying the MLB-Extra Innings baseball package?

Well, if your Cox Cable is like my Cox Cable (even though we're in different states,) tonights games are:

Tampa Bay vs NY Yankees: 7:05 ET on NHL Center Ice Game 13(mine still doesn't list it as MLB Extra Innings but the game is on right now)

Arizona vs Washington: 7:05 ET on NHL Center Ice Game 14

Oakland vs LA Angels: 10:05 ET on NHL Center Ice Game 12

I hope it works out for you :)

That's happy news man.

But slightly tempered by my prior experiences with Charter people not having a clue and giving downright false information.

Will be checking the channel guide again later tonight. For now, all the channels are still set up for Center Ice.

Also, as a side note, I complained bitterly to Charter last year that they didn't have enough channels set aside, and during the time that CI and EI overlap, they cut games from both. They seem to have solved that problem by adding four more channels for the sports packages.

Yeah...I'm becoming skeptical...She said the season for their EI would start the 11th...right now all it is showing is Center Ice...I may call again tomorrow to try and confirm.

I just got off the phone with Charter and was told that they're negotiating right now for it. I had to get transferred three times before I could actually speak with someone who could tell me that. Man Charter's customer service is horrible.

Somebody needs to hurry up. I cancelled my MLB.TV so my credit card wouldn't get charged for it.

What a mess they all made. This is the type of negotiating you do during the OFFSEASON!

Idiots.

Man, that's exactly why I held out.

I'm with you. I don't know what deal was made yesterday that couldn't have been made a week ago.

So I called Charter again this morning to get my fair share of abuse....and I had the pleasure of talking to some dude in San Palo Brazil...who was obviously well informed. ...he informed me that they were "still negotiating"...

yep - looks like us dishnetwork people lose out...

http://www.dishnetwork.com/redirects/promotion/extra_innings/index.shtml

they really make it look like the only guilty parties are mlb. I have not been so far up on all the discussions, but couldn't they have gotten it, but it would have effected their own bottom line, so they are simply blaming others now. I know that mlb comes off as extremely greedy here, but in essence, so does dishnetwork...

this really is horrible!

From what I've heard, DishNetwork couldn't match DirectTV and the cable companies' commitment to the baseball network.

Dish folks shouldn't be surprised. This is the same company that aired ads with Tiki Barber touting all the football available on their service while completely ignoring the fact that Sunday Ticket was a DirecTV exclusive.

Those ads would have been more accurate if they had used Division II athletes; Dish had plenty of their games. It's simply a B-list company.

Charter's latest response....Its almost comical. I'd guess I could call and get 50 different answers from 50 different CSRs.

Maryann: Charter does not currently have a deal with MLB. However, based on the recent iNDEMAND agreement, direct discussions between Charter and MLB will begin immediately. Charter and all other cable operators not owned by iNDEMAND must negotiate directly with MLB to carry MLB Extra Innings and later, The Baseball Channel. Updates on Charter\u2019s ability to offer MLB Extra Innings will be provided as soon as they are available.

What is your problem? what good does it do you to attack other companies just because you are a DirecTV fanboy. You really need to get over your zealous unhealthy enthusiasm for what basicly is a bottom feeding money grabing craphole of a company.

LOL!!!

anyway.. for those with Time Warner Cable, they're offering the free preview from yesterday (the 5th) through the 15th. The channel lineup looks like it did last year, sharing with NHL Center Ice.

I attack them because they're lame. I support DirecTV because they offer the best baseball viewing experience, period. Dish offers nothing of value. I should know, since I'm a customer of both.

I don't expect you to get it, seeing as how you think HD is "overrated."
