According to the Hot List on ESPN, Bears have waived Tank Johnson.

Wowzers. 670 the score is reporting the same thing.

Can't say I blame them.

It's pretty much a certainty that this incident means the chance of making it 6 games instead of 8 is gone. And there's a decent chance Goodell would actually add games as this is a new incident.

Had Tank taken the situation seriously, and turned his life around without incident, he'd have been showing a real committment to correcting his mistakes. This isn't about being out at 3:30 AM to me, I don't care about that stuff. But this is about being in Tank's situation and being out at 3:30 AM with perhaps something iffy in his system.

I thought Tank was pretty disappointing as a player for most of his time here, so it's easier to swallow if true. But he was still a decent cog on the wheel. As long as they find a way to replace him, and feel confident in Harris and Dusty (which I presume they do), then I can't say they are making a mistake.

He refused a breathalyzer so the police had to get a warrent to take his blood. Pretty sure he's going to get a DUI, which I would imagine end any chance of him playing this year.

Getting rid of him is the right call. You can't let this guy burn you over and over again. Like you said, he's a ok player but not good enough to continually deal with his crap.

Good think we signed Anthony Adams.

They will need another DT still IMO.

I'm not sure getting another one is all that possible, or necessary. Sure, if there is a quality guy out there, they should take a look. There are 6 on the roster right now. Harris, Dusty, Adams, Idonije are practically locks to make the roster. Garay is also a good bet. They signed an undrafted rookie who might be able to provide some depth. They've added Bazuin to the D-end rotation, so the defensive line as a whole is pretty well stocked right now.

Can't say I'm terribly crushed...it's disappointing though. I had hoped he'd actually follow through on some of the things he was saying.

If he gets a DUI, he's looking at some jail time. Am I wrong here? He has to be on probation still.

He's not on probation according to the Trib.

Prosecutors in Lake and Cook counties, where Johnson faced legal trouble after a raid on his Gurnee home earlier this year, said Friday's incident in Arizona would not affect him in Illinois.

"The case is over and he served his time," Cook County Assistant State's Atty. Rick Cenar said. In May, Johnson completed 60 days of a 120-day sentence in Cook County Jail after pleading guilty to violating his probation on a 2005 weapons conviction.

"Our case is closed," Lake County Assistant State's Atty. Mary Stanton said. "He's not on probation or conditional discharge."

He was trouble in college and trouble in the pros, he got what was coming to him. Let some other team take a chance on him, he did make his teammates who pleaded to Lovie to get Angelo to keep him look like fools, this was one day after the workouts concluded.

Don't be surprised to see Alex Brown lined up on the inside.

Antonio Garay impressed me a bit last year too. At least as a #3/4 guy.

Certainly disappointing what he did - but he had it coming.

Depth at DT is questionable.

I applaud the Bears for doing the right thing. I really like Tank and thought he had a ton of talent, but it's not worth the hassle. He's been out of jail less than a month.

Tank Johnson reaches an agreement in principle with the Bengals in 3... 2... 1...

Nah, the Bengals don't sign bad eggs, they make them bad while they are there. If they are bad eggs already, they head to the Raiders.

Ya he is definetly more likely to sign with the Raiders than the Bengals imo.
