As a decoy, maybe. If the Colts saw him in the field offensively, they'd think something was up.

Or, if you want him to have the ball, run a reverse and hope he gets to the corner first. Or possibly a trick play with a hook and ladder type situation. Both risky, but they'd be fun to watch.

No. Hester needs to concentrate on catching the ball, plus the Superbowl isn't the place for experimentation.

You wouldn't want to experiment with him playing QB, but the Super Bowl is as good a game as any to throw a player like Hester into an offensive play or two.

I would use him for no more than 6 or 7 plays. A couple of fake end arounds where he is a decoy, maybe 1 acutal end around, and then just send him deep, try to out run coverage and heave it as far as you can Rex.

That's not the same. Perry had already been used on offense several times during the regular season, so it's not like they were experimenting in the Super Bowl.

I know at least in the Tampa game(I only remember because Barber jumped his slant route and almost got a pick). That might've been the only game though, since I don't think he got any actual touches against TB.

I must have missed that. I was flying home from Indiana that day and saw a part of the game while waiting for my flight, but that must have been during the part of the game I missed.

Especially if Bradley is good to go, I don't really see the point other than as a decoy. Let him focus on special teams.

I wonder how he would do if he ran a "Go Long" type of route.. If he'd be open by any chance because of his speed.

Didn't Lovie Smith earlier in the season say he was interested in seeing what Hester could do with the more touches on offense? (I think he said it after the 108 yrder).

With that said, I would use Hester in very limited plays. Reverses, decoys, etc, etc. If for nothing else, having Hester, and "electrfying talent" on the field, for atmost 10 plays, forces the Colts to change the defense gameplan, because the Colts don't have anybody that can stop Hester, or Berrian or the matter. Could you imagine the headaches, that a 4 WR set of Moose/Hester/Bradley/Berrian would have on the Colts? The Bears would get the match up the wanted, and cause confusion.

So yea, periodically, I like to see Hester---if for nothing else as a decoy---on the field.

I think Moose/Berrian/Bradley/Davis would cause more headaches, but I still don't see the Bears bringing out the 4 WR set for the Super Bowl.

I fear the exact opposite. I wonder if the Bears aren't too predictable. The Superbowl is the sort of game where you pull out all the stops. Like having your ace starter come in to close a game in the WS.

FWIW. Isn't catching a punt considered one of the hardest things to do in football?

You'd take Berrian out of the mix? He's the Bears #1 receiver.
