It now appears the Reds are pursuing Chris Reitsma.

Link.

He said he’s well into negotiations with “several teams” including Cincinnati, where Reitsma was a setup man, closer and fan favorite before being traded to Atlanta before the 2004 season.

The Reds already have Coffey,Weathers, Bray, Majewski, Cormier, and Stanton for the pen. Do they really need Reitsma too?

Maybe at some point in 2007 the Reds and O's are going to make a trade with one another?

I like the concept of going after as many arms as possible, just not at the expense of other parts of the roster. If all their bullpen acq. were via FA, they'd be in better shape than it currently is. Edited by UK

Watch them trade Bruce or Bailey to get him, too.

Maybe we can trade Novoa for Dunn or something like that. Throw in Pagan if they need an outfielder.

In Baseball Mogul, I put Novoa on the trading block and the Astros gave me Clemens & Buccholz for him. I thought it was hilarious.

Jones + bp arm for Bailey & Dunn plz 8-)

I'm pretty sure he's a FA, I think he was Non tendered

Gotcha.

In which case, Reitsma's a good acquisition for any team that doesn't already have 12 arms for the pen.

Looks like Krivsky lost his man to the Mariners.

The Mariners made a move on Friday to bolster their bullpen for 2007 by signing veteran right-handed reliever Chris Reitsma to a one-year contract with a club option for 2008.

Not to worry, he's probably getting ready to sign Doug Jones and Rod Beck to multiyear deals.
