Once Dusty D was put on the injured list there is no way he can come off even if Johnson can't play? I thought I heard Dusty was healthy again.

Because the injury occured after the preaseason started, he wasn't eliglible for PUP. That happens often in the NFL. A player is injured for a extened time, but maybe not the whole season, but the team can't hold a roster spot so they have to IR that player. Mark Andserson was almost put on IR.

I'd like the NFL to adopt some type of extended disabled list(like baseball). That is what the commish shoudl be focused on, instead of pussying the NFL like he currenlty is.

Is this seriously going to keep him from playing? It might not.

They'll probably wait until we play in the Superbowl to hand down the suspension.

This will carry over into next year past the Super Bowl. The litigation process will delay this until probably April.

Yeah, I can't see the litigation process cutting short this season, but I can't see how it won't cause some problems next season.

Speaking of Mark Anderson, he should be playing most every down. Who should sit?

FYI the Bears are number 2 in points scored and number 2 in points allowed in the NFL.

For now, Alex Brown is moving inside on obvious passing downs so Anderson can play.

FWIW, I love the nickname "Windy City Flyer"

i hate that name and i cant stand jeff joniak

Why (hating Joniak)?

i dont like his voice for whatever reason, he calls a good game, his voice just annoys me though.

I've grown used to it. And I've grown to dislike the accepted "professional play-by-play" voice that so many guys have trained themselves to imitate. Well, more like grown tired of hearing the same vocal tone over & over again from guys.

Joniak's original sounding, if a little amateur-ish. And he knows Bear football very, very well. If I didn't have the DirecTV delay I'd turn down the volume and turn on the radio broadcast every game.

The only thing that dissapoints me about Joniak is his appearance doesn't live up to his legendary voice.

I love him because he calls a very, very good game, and he supports the Bears without sounding too homer-istic.

This is a very, very, very good indicator of Super Bowl teams.

I believe there hasn't been a team since the 80's that won the superbowl that wasn't in the top ten in points allowed.

(Those Raider teams screwed everything up  )

Whaaa???

Legendary voice??

Not homeristic?

I like Joniak, but niether of these descriptions seem very befitting.

Oh god if you think Joniak is a homer, listen to the Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Denver or Indy play-by-play guys.

They are downright terrible.

The weapons seized during the raid included a .44 magnum Smith&Wesson revolver, a .50 caliber Desert Eagle handgun, a .45 caliber handgun, a .308 caliber Winchester rifle and two assault-style rifles—a Colt AR-15 and a .223 caliber

Now that is an arsenal. I guess some were loaded and just lying around too.

He's due in court Jan. 9th, just days before the first NFC playoff game, but the Trib speculates that he won't get suspended by the NFL.

Yet they are 20th in offensive yards and 3rd in defensive yards.

(This is probably true, but I dont remember the source of the info)

Random note: 2 of 7 nfl.com talking heads are currently putting Devin Hester in the lead for ROY. While I think it's just because it's the week after his biggest attention-grabber of the season, if he pulls of another one in the next three weeks, I think he could lock it up.

This Guy Thinks MVP Throw his name among the top rookies, but he's not the ROY in my book and no way is he MVP worthy.

I would agree with that. I didn't support Dante Hall for MVP a few years ago, and I don't think Hester deserves it now. He may deserve ROY-right now the top 5 candidates (in no particular order) are probably Bush, Colston, Hester, Vince Young, and Addai-any of those 5 probably could win the award (although I think Addai is a little behind the other 4 at this point).

One thing to remember also is that Hester has given 1 or 2 TD's to the other team as well- he basically gave up a TD in the Miami game on a fumbled punt (and he might have had one other, or maybe the other one was just a close call that he fell on, I can't remember), so that should be factored into his TD totals as well.

Yea, I saw that article, and I think it's a little over the edge. Another return and I don't have a problem with him getting ROY, though I agree others are at least as deserving (I'd pick Vince Young right now), if not more. Going so far as to say MVP is just a sensationalist reaction to the rare/exciting nature of the kick return TD.

EDIT: The two guys in that first article I linked to are also generally the most supportive of the Bears on nfl.com, so I'm not sure Hester has any real chance to do more in ROY voting than obtain a few votes and maybe come in second or third.

Most of you never heard Jack Brickhouse and Irv Kupcinet doing Bears games on the radio !!!

I think much more important is the fact that they're dropping in the rankings.

Let's see what rank they are for the month of December after the 31st. That will be a much better indicator. With Tommie & Brown gone, it's really not correct to lump in the spectacular numbers of the defense with those two, when it's pretty clear the unit is not nearly as stout without them.

That is true, but in my mind yardage isn't as important as points. Would you concur?

Well even if they were fully healthy, they'd almost assuredly drop in the rankings simply due to having almost nothing on the line in these last few games.

if i were lovie, i'd tell the press that:

"While we're very unhappy with our starting defensive tackle's apparent illness concerning the compulsion to own multiple unlicensed handguns, we're trying to win a superbowl, not sweep the good citizen awards here. so, to all the people calling for his immediate suspension, get bent, please."

Yardage isn't a very good way to determine defensive efficiency.

I'd probably be upset with a Leonard Little on my team, but unlicenced guns, I couldn't care less about. Superbowl or bust.
