Hmmmmmm....

According to a story on the San Jose Mercury News' Web site, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa approached Bonds' agent on Wednesday night and requested a meeting with the currently unemployed outfielder and owner of 734 career home runs.

"I want to talk to your guy," La Russa reportedly told Jeff Borris outside a steakhouse at the Walt Disney World resort where the meetings are being held. "Where is he? I want to talk to him."

his body has to completely fall apart eventually, right?....right?

If he plays for the Cards, more opportunity for Zambrano to knock something off.

Mike and Mike just reported rumors that a mystery team has a 1 year, 17 million dollar offer on the table for Bonds and it's not the Giants.

I don't believe it, personally.

So the Cardinals have found some way to ignore the fact that he isn't a very nice guy, and instead focus on the potential 1.000 OPS?

Must be why they aren't closing in on 0 for 100...

this makes me smile, granted its a sick and twisted smile :eew: ...you know Barry might be especially interested in playing for our rival after the way we treated Dusty last year...sign him up cardinals! beating a cards team out for the central could only be made sweeter if it beats out Bonds too...oh well, for that to happen, JH needs to do alot more work :construct: , but wouldnt it be sweet? :bluekoolaid:

Edmonds, Pujols, Bonds, Rolen would be a murderers row on pitchers.

and Pujols is the only one in that line up that you can count on for 100+ games a year, the rest you'd be lucky to get 81 outta each Edited by Yeti

Love Bonds or hate him, if the Cardinals sign Bonds, we're done.

It could also be an infirmary ward too though.

And it's not the Cards. No way the Cards offer him 17 million.

A rumor posted in one of the Chicago papers has the White Sox as the "mystery team".

I think it's his agent posturing, but what do I know.

When he did play last year, he did a decent job in LF, and the White Sox trainers are among the best in the business.

The White Sox need a LF. This makes some sense.

Today's Tribune had an article about Larussa actively pursuing Bonds at the winter meetings. Gotta say this about Tony, he just doesn't care if steroids are involved with his players so long as they can help the team win.

Could you just see the quotes from Ozzie when Bonds informs him he's not playing today?

I'd have to see them, beacause I can never understand them aurally.

If Bonds only plays 81 games i am not sure this would be as wonderful as some people might think.

When LaRussa said "I want to talk to your guy", maybe he just is having some artthritis issues and wants to ask how to get in touch Greg Anderson?

Or as they said on 590 this morning, maybe he wants Big Barry to pose for the 2007 Animal Rights Foundation calendar.

Seriously, being exiled to St. Louis, I think it would be interesting to see how the creeeeeepy Cardinal fans would react to Barry.

Don't you think that's overreacting a bit? Neither Edmonds nor Bonds had over 370 AB last year, and Rolen hit only 22 HR. Edmonds will turn 37 during the season and Bonds will turn 43.
