Love Bonds or hate him, if the Cardinals sign Bonds, we're done.

Edmonds, Pujols, Bonds, Rolen would be a murderers row on pitchers.

Don't you think that's overreacting a bit? Neither Edmonds nor Bonds had over 370 AB last year, and Rolen hit only 22 HR. Edmonds will turn 37 during the season and Bonds will turn 43.

Looking at AB with Bonds is probably not the best way to guage playing time since he walks so much. He had almost 500 plate appearances.

And Bonds in 493 PA > Aramis Ramirez in 660 PA last year. And it's not as if when Bonds doesn't play his team isn't allowed to put someone else in LF. If his team has a decent bench guy who can fill in, anything over replacement level is gravy.

How does Ramirez have 26 more runs created than Bonds? I'm confused.

My first notion is that RC doesn't account for park factors. Wrigley was one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball last year (which makes our offensive output in 2006 look that much worse).

per Rotoworld:

Despite what manager Tony La Russa said Wednesday about wanting to meet with Barry Bonds, GM Walt Jocketty said the Cardinals have no interest in signing the 42-year-old.

"There's nothing on with Bonds," Jocketty said. "I'm sick and tired of people asking that. We don't have money for Bonds. We're trying to sign pitching."

Well I guess that ends that.

it really bugs me that the cubs have no interest in bonds.

hendry's seems willing to throw a few mil or so at floyd, who is every bit as likely to break down as bonds and will not be nearly as productive. and now that meche appears to be out of the picture (whew!) the cubs have saved themselves about $10 mil for next season.

if you combine the $10 mil the cubs were willing to threw at meche and the few million they will eventually give floyd, you could likely get enough money to sign bonds.

my anger will be increased tenfold if the cardinals end up with bonds.
