I've watched as many Saints games as I have Cowboys, and the Saints scare me. Their defense can be leaky, but the Saints offense is very, very good. If Colston and Horn get healthy, they are very dangerous!

Indeed, 375 total yards today WITHOUT Colston and Horn. That's a great great offense. Plus, they are becoming more deadly every week because Bush is finally figuring out how to play in the NFL; he's figuring out that you can't run side to side, but have to run down the field. Instead of relying so much on his speed, he's now utilizing his juking and avoidance ability for positive yardage.

Their rush defense which had been their principle defensive concern looked great today, holding the Niners and Gore to only 57 yards.

GEAUX Saints!

The 9ers are just atrocious. Gore had a few games, but ultimately it's just a poor ballclub.

If N.O. can beat Dallas, then I'll take another look. As it stands right now, I think that defense is junk and Dallas will tear them apart.

Sometimes I'm wrong----I'll admit that.

Saints win the South, Boys win the East, Seahawks win the West, Panthers 5 seed and whoever plays least crappy of everyone else 6 seed. Book it.

I think Dallas can beat New Orleans, and they should beat New Orleans. That being said, I think the Saints are a top five team in the NFC.

That's not really saying much.

That's what I was going to say. But yeah, N.O. is top 5 NFC.

Who cares any team that isn't garbage and won't hand them a game will beat them in the playoffs. There not that good.

Edit: I'm reffering to the Cowboys.

OK. Who in the NFC is better than the Boys right now?

I'll still say the Bears. Maybe Seattle, but I don't know if I really believe in them again yet. That D looks really leaky. Grossman absolutely ripped them to shreds----they're suspect.

Not N.O. Not Carolina.

I was really fusterated when I wrote that. Despite being a Giants fan, the Cowboys were my pick to go to the SB in the NFC.

Their defense isn't total junk. Their pass defense is 6th in the NFL. Of course, their rush defense is bad, but they held a 100+yd/game rusher to around half that today.

If they got into an offensive slugfest with the Cowboys, I think they match up pretty well. Saints have a better QB, but they have equal running back duos: Deuce/Bush and Jones/Barber, and equal WR's: T.O. and Colston, Glenn and Horn.

They had a lucky game against the Boys. Grossman shredded them to pieces.

They're junk. Sure they put together a few decent games in the middle of the season-----the worst teams usually still manage to do that. But they're back to their old, terrible, selves.

Beating the 9ers means nothing in terms of how far N.O. is capable of going this year. The Dallas game definitely does.

Are you talking about the Saints or the 49ers defense being junk? I presumed you meant the Saints.

Regardless of which of them you meant, I agree that the Cowboys v. Saints game next sunday night is going to be a huge game for the NFC.

The Tony Romo love is really getting out of control.

The Fox guys couldn't all pile on at once so they just scooped him up one at a time.

Like Alien v. Predator: Whoever wins, we lose.

Go Cowboys I suppose.

I like looking at it that way 8)

Also heartwarming: Stl just got punked by Arizona in their own building.

going to have to crap in both our cereal bowls Soul. NO and Dallas are tied, so the Bears will still have a little work to do after next week no matter what. plus, NO is closer in the tie breaker. I don't think that has enough playoff implications for me to root for Dallas though.

Eh, they're 6th in yards per game, but that's not a very good way to measure a defense's effectiveness - even though the talking heads on the pregame shows do that all the time.

One reason, like you said, that the Saints don't give up a ton of passing yards is that they're busy giving up a ton of rushing yards.

More advanced metrics, that take strength of schedule and other factors into account, rank the Saints pass defense as 27th in the NFL.

They're especially bad against #1 receivers. FO ranks them as last in the NFL. I won some fantasy football games today by starting Antonio Bryant. T.O. should have a field day next week.

I was referring to the 49ers being junk. It would be difficult for Grossman to shred the Saints' defense since they aren't on the schedule...

Again with the Rex bashing.

Are they? Damn. Might have to root for Dallas then. It's really hard for me to muster up any desire to root for the Cowboys.

"America's team." Ick.

Well of course I know we haven't played the Bears, but I had to ask because in your previous post you had said:

Not a fan of NO's defense. But they do have a wonderful offense.

The 49ers are a bad team overall.
