Bruce (sorry to bug you!!) How do you see the rotation shaking out for the cubs?? 2 lesser FA? one final Q, do you see Jones in CF or is he gone?? thanx again your a star.... 8)

Two lesser free agents in the rotation unless something happens with Schmidt that changes everybody's minds and allows him to come here. For now, they'll pencil Jones in center. If they can find a left-handed bat who can play CF, they'll try to trade Jones. The wild card is Pie. If he tells the Cubs he's ready (by his play, of course), he could be in CF sometime in 2007. The center-field situation is very fluid right now. I expect a lot of activity in Orlando next week.

Coco Crisp please.

Do you think the Cubs still have much interest in Lugo? If so, would he become the favorite for CF? I'd hope they'd see him as the SS. How about Izturis? Is he being shopped or does Hendry see him as our starting shortstop?

Vance , do you thinl we have the pieces for A Jones?? If we'd sign Lugo for SS i'd take my chances on Pie and bat him 8th

It all depends on what the Braves want. I think we could offer quantity if not quality.

I think the bigger issue would be Andruw waiving his no-trade rights.

i do think he would waive it to come here... wouldnt he?

I'll be amazed if we don't go as high as anyone on schmidt. Possibly Meche and Westbrook would interest me but if your talking about Weaver,Marquis or another reclamation project i'll take my chances with Marshall and Guzman.

vernon wells please.

Let's stay realistic please.

why is that unrealistic? Wells is in his contract year, quite possibly will leave Toronto anyway, they have a right-handed dominated lineup and lots of holes.

He probably meant Cubs. But I don't hink we'd have much to offer. Especially if we swing a deal for Westbrook.

Why cant Schimdt jsut sign and we trade for Westbrook. Then were done with the pitching controversy and our rotation looks awsome..All were left with is the CF problem

Plus the bench and resigning Zambrano and I think we should resign Barrett.

Hmm so we have like 10 different places saying the Cubs offered Schmidt the 3 year deal, then Bruce Levine says we never did...Were do these other places get that news from? Pretty big since its a headline on SI.com and on rotoworld.com

Anybody have Schmidt's or Hendry's cell phone number? We should call them up and get this straight.

It's Bruce Miles, and all the other sites got their information from the San Fransisco Chronicle. They probably got their info from Schmidt's agent, which Bruce said was probably a false rumor that the agent thought up.

Let's all raid the agent's house and yell at him for getting us excited.

Bruce, Can we definetely rule the cubs out on Igawa if the bid is $25 mill?? Thanx in advance.

Rule them out, period.

Are they going to abandon Asia again?

No, they just hired Steve Wilson, who lives in Taiwan, to restart their Asian scouting. They apparently don't see Igawa as worth the investment.

To add to the Steve Wilson part, Wilson was a part-time Asian scout for the Phillies the past two years...he certainly should have made some inroads at least in Taiwan.

I doubt that SI.com and ESPN would have it as such big news if there was only a blurb about it in the San Francisco Chronicle. Rotoworld, yes, but not SI or ESPN.

I fear they are going to overpay for 2 lesser free agents like Meche and Marquis, which to me seems like a foolish waste of money. We have guys that pitched last year that are likely to put up similar numbers for far less money. *sigh*
