I've always thought Wisconsin has had good teams but what bothered me this year is that they didn't beat anyone that was good, well really good, and they also scheduled 4 patsies out of conference. Also, not playing Ohio State is just plain wrong. I like it when all the teams play each other like the Big East and Pac 10 do.

That's not Wisconsin's fault. The Big 10 has a 2 year rotating schedule that determines who is on/off the schedule. Some teams will always play each other (OSU and Michigan, PSU and MSU) but others rotate on and off. In 2005/2006, PSU did not play Iowa or Indiana, and the next 2 years, they don't play Minnesota or Northwestern. Heck, a few years back they went 2 seasons without playing Michigan. I also doubt the Big 10 is the only team that does this.

just to clarify, each team in the Big Ten has three teams it plays every year. UW's are Minnesota, Iowa, and either NW or U of I, I forget.

Are you serious? ND and Penn State plus what's already in the Big East? In any given year it could be the top conference in college football.

this is comical. in any given year the Big East would be on par with the Big Ten or SEC if they added those two power programs.

if the Big Ten added Notre Dame, they would be hands down the best conference in the country.

Poor IMB.

ZERO EMPATHY FOR IMB!!

being a Sooner fan was a bad decision and their players and coaches made bad decisions during that game.

That still doesn't change the fact that the refs screwed up and Oklahoma should have been awarded possession on the onsides kick.

It's people like you that vote in the coaches poll. You assume everything before they even play. I prefer to let them play and see where it goes.

Don't you think it helps that Wisconsin had more and better bowl tie-ins by playing in the Big 11 that Louisville didn't by playing in C-USA?

better bowls

better competition in those bowls

more wins.

nice try, but when Louisville is losing to Colorado State and Boise State and Miami of Ohio and Marshal while Wisconsin is beating UCLA, the last good Colorado team, and Auburn, I think it's pretty damn obvious which is the better program.

and you don't? did you not presume the greatness of the Big East in any given year in the very post that I was responding to?

but I agree that the voters are idiots. just look where the rank Louisville, WV and Rutgers.

even if it was somehow Wisconsin's fault for not playing OSU, doesn't the blame for the week schedule go at least in part to Iowa and Penn State? it's not the Badgers fault that the pre-season 16 and 19 ranked team in the country fell on their faces this year.

doesn't matter. they made bad decisions to be in a position to have Oregon beat them. Oregon made good decisions and therefore won the game. the actual circumstances of these things just don't matter. just ask IMB himself. unless of course he has double standards.

You could say Oklahoma did plenty to lose that game, but what did Oregon do to win that game aside from just barely capitalizing on some horrible, horrible officiating the last half of the fourth quarter? It's usually easy to win a close game when the refs hand the game to you on a silver platter, but Oregon still had to sweat it out.

I'm speaking tongue in cheek in reference to a different thread. of course Oklahoma should have that game in their win column.

It's not their fault for not playing OSU and the Big 10 being crap this year. But it is their fault for scheduling Bowling Green, Western Illinois, San Diego State, Buffalo with only Bowling Green haing any chance of being even semi-good. No teams from a major conference in the OOC schedule. That is their fault.

All of that doesn't have any affect on which team is better this year. And it's still not fair to compare a team that is clearly on the rise - and one that has not only just joined a major conference but is a WVU win over Rutgers away from winning the conference title - against a team that has been in a major conference for years.

You obviously don't get it. Being in a major conference not only gets you better matchups (just within your conference) but more television time and better bowl tie ins. All three of those factors help to get you better recruits because you have more to sell to them. The fact that Louisville just joined a major conference and is already a National Title contender is remarkable in of itself.

A beast, I tell you. BEASTS!

I need them to lose so the Big East still has a chance but I just can't root against them!

Yeah, it should be interesting. I've seen a couple bowl projections that have Arkansas getting the automatic SEC bid and the Big East getting both Louisville and WVU in BCS games.

ETA: If you want 2 Big East teams you should also be hoping for Nevada to take down Boise State.

6-0 Arkansas, just running through the #1 defense in the country.

Extra point missed?! Hope that doesn't come back to bite them.

They had to rely on that "Wildcat formation" to do it. If they continue to rely on that it will become an issue for ARK. LSU will figure it out. That gimmicky crap won't work the whole game.
