Turner needs to adjust the game plan to a 3 step drop if the opp. is going to blitz as much as they did. The best way to combat a blitz is by a screen pass or a draw, the Bears have never good at screen and didn't run any draws. They should've run the ball more, IMO. If the Pats blitz like that, I hope they shorten the passing attack as well as the drop back towards quick slants and flares as well as more draws.

Defensively, I thought they did better against the run in the 2nd half.

The quick/slip slant was there the entire game, too. Hopefully they can identify that on film and make sure they can exploit it.

I pity the Jets fans who stayed. Not only did the Jets lose, but they're now blasting that John Mellencamp song over the loudspeakers.

Ouch. That would be enough to make me go home and kick my cat

NEthing but that stupid COUGER song. Yes, that's right John, I said it: JOHN COUGER! :P

just a thought on the offense today, and if this is what Lovie was doing, it's brilliant.

why give away your attack to a game you can win with defense when you are facing a team that runs the exact same defensive scheme the next week?

if Lovie was just disguising his offense today, it's a fantastic coaching move. the big question is if.

The play calling certainly seemed preseason-esque...

Ahahhaahahah postgame show, Urlacher is getting interviewed.

Wale comes over, and Urlacher says Wale why don't you tell everyone what happened to you at the end of the game.

Wale: Man, I uh, you hit me in the nuts.

Thank God for Wale's nuts.

Er...uh....yeah.

GO BEARS!!!

I thought that injury looked like it was a little, uh.......strange. Looked like he had a sudden onset of the world's worst food poisoning, only it wasn't the stomach he was grabbing.

I was fearing groin pull from the time it happened.

I thought that was what happened, but it didn't look like it on the replay.

Sorry if this was already mentioned in this thread, but I thought I heard on the CSN Postgame show say that the Bears could possibly clinch the division next week? is that true?

Magic number is 1. need a win or gb+viking loss

Yes. Their magic number is 1 over both the Packers and Vikings.

I'd just like the add that the Tillman injury was weird. Any word on this?

The sideline report was *NOT* a concussion, but that he was "shaken up."

Tillman then returned to the game a bit later. So I feel safe in saying he's alright. I think Tommie Harris and Ogun are OK as well.

One interesting note: the Bears completely shut down the Jets, including the running game, in the 4th quarter. And that was without Tommie Harris playing. It was Tank & Ian Scott I believe.

I really don't think Ron Turner fits the gameplan to Grossman's strengths. At the beginning Ron was calling a lot of quick rhythm pass plays, west coast-y stuff that Grossman has never been good at.

Grossman is best when he can sit in the pocket and sling those intermediate-long 15-30 yard passes. Once he gets in that rhythm he's unstoppable. He's not great with those 8 yard ins and outs and curls, etc. Just not his game.

Oh well. A win is a win, but I don't see Turner's playcalling improving, other than running the ball more, which is great.

Did the Bears run any plays out of the shotgun today?

One thing I didn't understand, this week they talked about the shotgun, and how they didn't have success with it vs the Giants. For Pete's sake, they ran 2 whole plays from that formation! How do they know they can't have success from it. IMO, you lineup in the gun, and run a quick slant to Bradley. That play is there 9/10. He has the size to fight a jam, and the short area quickness to gain seperation. It will be only a matter of time before he permantly takes the starting job back from Berrian. I am really stoked

to have him back in the mix, he has such a good mix of skills.

BEARS WIN! CUBS GET SORIONO! WOOT! FREAKIN GREAT DAY!

Berrian flat out dropped the biggest opportunity he had all day :-\

Ridiculous holding call also negated a big pass play, i dont remember if that was Berrian or Moose though.
