There is only one situation where I'd want the bears to lose. This is that situation.

J E T S JETS! JETS! JETS!

As a life long Jet fan, let me say this. The Jets were expected to win 3, maybe 4 games this year. They have 5 games and I think that is absolutely amazing.

This game will be somwhere between a 3 point Jet win and a 48 point Bears win.

Honestly, the Bears should have no trouble with the Jets.

I don't anticipate a whole lot of trouble, but I didn't expect it with Miami either. I normally root against the Jets...I root against all NY teams generally, but the Jets have been pretty scrappy this year, and I've enjoyed watching them when I've seen them.

The Jets are interesting. Like Goony said, they don't do anything well. Middle of the pack in rushing yards, but bottom 1/5 in the league in yards per carry. Bottom 1/3 in passing. They haven't been giving up a ton of points, but they are one of the worst teams in the league against the run in yards and ypc. They are bottom 1/2 vs. the pass. They don't rush the passer very well and are just average at protecting their own QB.

On the surface, it may sound a lot like the Dolphins...and offensively, the Jets are. But they aren't nearly as good defensively.

I'd really be shocked if the Jets gave the Bears much of a contest. They do have the most balanced set of WRs the Bears have seen this year, and the crossing patterns could give the DBs some trouble. But I'd also be surprised if they got into the endzone more than once.

Just read on NFL.com that the Bears/Patriots game has been changed to a 3:15 CST start on FOX. NBC will pick up the Eagles/Colts game for their SNF game.

For some reason, they moved the Giants/Titans game to the 4:15 slot as well. Both of those games feature road NFC teams, meaning they will both be on Fox. I don't see why they'd want to put both of those games on the late broadcast.

According to chicagosports.com, because of the Vikings' skid, the Bears are most likely done on Sunday Night Football for the rest of the year.

Maybe since the Jets are doing decent they want to separate the times of the teams games so that they can get a wider viewing audience for each? Thats my best guess.

They always play the NY games at seperate times. Can't believe I didn't think about that. Although I'm a little surprised they didn't choose the Jets game for 4, since that game will be on CBS. Now, the only CBS game is Oakland/SD.

Now that I look at it, they have all remaining Jets and Giants games scheduled at 1pm, for now. That means one of those games will be moved each week.

I guess this is where I should put this.

Patriots to install field turf by the Bears game.

I heard about that....apparently Tom Brady players a LOT better on turf, so they decided to install it in Foxboro...pretty dumb

Unless you're kidding, I highly doubt thats the reason.

That field has looked abysmal this year. I remember one game the center was basically just a long stretch of dirt, even to the point were sports casters were complaining about it.

They've always had a problem with the grass as the season goes on. It's been like this ever since the stadium opened up.

Good move by them. That field is always in poor shape the second half of the year, and by home playoff games it's a disaster.

Time to move on from the Giants game.

Bears are now 7 point favorites over the Jets, last I saw was 5.5.

This could be the battle of letdown games. The Jets coming off a huge road win over their biggest nemesis, and the Bears coming off a huge road win over their closest conference opponent.

The Jets don't pressure the QB much, but they got to Brady. And everybody around here is talking about this magnificent new scheme put in place during their bye week. Jets fans and media is extremely confident about their chances. Three weeks ago they were assuming the loss, now they are pretty confident in a win.

There's a guy at work trying to talk me into this being a let down game, and I just don't see it.

First off it's a road game against a winning team. I don't know how you can let that be a let down game.

Second, it's in the middle of the road trip that everyone has been looking at since the beginning of the season.

Third, the Jets big win last week was against a conference opponent, and was coming off of a bye week. Coming off of a bye has been big for most teams this year, and the Jets may not have that same energy for this game.

Lastly, the Bears had a huge wakeup call against Miami, and really found a groove in the 2nd half last week. They'll be in the same building, and should feel more comfortable with it. The Bears are perfect on the road so far this season, and I don't see that changing this week.

In defense of the guy at your work:

1) It's a non-conference team that nobody is taking all that seriously (a better Miami)

2) The fact that it is in the middle of a 3 game raod trip against their best conference opponent and best AFC opponent is a perfectly good reason why this could be a letdown. It's the least important of the 3 games.

3) Well, that doesn't say anything about the Bears. I think it could be a letdown for both teams, which is why I said potential battle of letdown games.

4) The wakeup call against Miami and finding the groove the following week could have been the same story after the Arizona loss. Being comfortable with a building doesn't have anything to do with not letting down (if anything, it could be more of a reason to letdown).

I see a Bears win. I don't think the Jets will play as well as they did last week. And they really didn't do a whole lot last week anyway.

I definitely see the reasons why a letdown could be the case. But I'm not sure about #1 there...I don't know if people aren't taking this seriously. Miami was like 1-6 when we faced them. The Jets are 5-4...I don't know how you don't take a team seriously that is above .500 and just beat the Patriots.

Well, Bears fans on this board are still spending a lot more time talking about the Giants game than this one. The media is focused more on the theory that they locked up the #1 seed, and that the Patriots game is on the horizon. And the Jets have been an afterthought all season. Yes, they are 5-4. Yes, it's inexcusable to not take them seriously. But such things happen all the time. The Bears seem as proud of themselves for beating the Giants as they were for coming back against Arizona.

The only thing that could make this more of a candidate for a letdown game was if the Jets had a worse record. But I'm still not convinced football people think of the Jets as a 5-4 team.

People should be banging themselves in the head for NOT seeing this as a 5-4 team in the preseason.

They have a healthy Chad Pennington, who is not a half bad QB. (Kinda like our relationship with Grossman, eh?) They have a quality defense. The Bills and the Dolphins are pretty bad, they can rack up some victories right there.

Chris Russo, speaking about Bears defense: They are not a great defense.

Mike Francesa: They aren't a great defense

They were talking about how fast, they are, and how hard they hit, but both made it clear they didn't think the Bears defense was great.

I don't get this shtick. The flavor of the month seems to be dissing the Bears D. The Bears lead the NFL in total defense by a pretty wide margin and also lead the league in pass defense. Which is amazing considering the leads they have had in some of these games. Even the weak spot, rush D, is top 10.

Not just the defense, but the team. Nobody at the idiot station ESPN seems to think they're that good. Not a whole lot of players are giving them their due either. Even some of the reporters for the Chicago newspapers haven't bought into them.

Never before have I seen a team bashed as much as the Bears for being 8-1. It's unbelievable. I'm not asking everyone to bow down and kiss the Bears feet, but in what is the greatest Bears season I've been able to experience (I was 10 months old during the Super Bowl), it'd be nice if everyone wasn't saying how overrated they are. I hope they go into New York and stomp the Jets. At that point, New Yorkers can say whatever they want about a team that just beat its pride and joy in football.

By the way, did anyone see the interview with Urlacher after the game against the Giants where he said we played bad against the... then he stopped and said I mean the Dolphins just played good and just beat us.

Mike and the Mad Dog are annoying idiots, something I was happy to leave behind moving to Philla.

Havent see the Jets but im going to guess the reason they are 5-4 is because they have a good turnover margin, one of top teams in the NFL. You flip that and you got yourself a W. Everything said in thread points to them being consistantly mediocore.
