With Ramirez gone, we should just rebuild. Trade D. Lee and Zambrano for top prospects. Start fresh. This is why Girardi should have been hired not Piniella.

No way on trading Lee and Z. Completely starting from scratch is unacceptable. Retooling with the idea of winning in 2008 would be OK (as long as it's with a new General Manager), but expecting loyal fans to sit through yet another major rebuilding program and going beyond a century without a championship is out of the question.

Ramirez isn't gone yet.

From the Cubs? Yes. Dont kid yourself for all intent of purposes Ram is gone. If you couldn't make a deal in the window that just passed, what makes you think we can make one now? He will get higher offers from other teams and he'll take one of those offers...

The team is a joke.

Won't Z be a free agent after the 2007 season? Might as well trade him now and get the best prospects you can. If we can't re-sign Aramis, how are we going to re-sign Z?

Opportunity never comes with out cost.

Opportunity never comes without risk.

Opportunity will never be your friend, it will never be your enemy, it is waiting on you to embrace it though.

If we dont resign Aram the game isnt over. You replace his power in other signings. You take ARams money and give it to Drew, or Lee, or you make a trade.

Dont go bury your head in the sand, the sky is still blue above the clouds. The sun is still out there. Embrace a future that might turn out to be better with change.

Trade Z. He doesn't deserve to have his arm destroyed by a coaching staff who will be desperately trying to avoid their 100th loss in late September.

I could get on-board with dealing Barrett, but no Z or Lee. We have to have something to build around.

I am also forgetting that if we deal-off all of those parts we can expect to get some stuff in return. That would be nice.

Doesn't the term 'rebuild' infer that something was actually built in the first place?

Fair point.

We had a good core of Ramirez/Lee/Barrett/Murton/Z/

We no longer have the best offensive player in said core.

We might as well have a fire sale, although Sweet Lou won't be too happy about it.

Trade DLee and Zambrano and Barrett, ala the Marlins.

As bad as Hendry is, thank God some of you aren't the GM. Trade Zambrano????? He is one of the best pitchers in baseball and he's very young. We can trade him for some prospects that might make it to the majors someday as #4 starters.

I agree and see absolutely no reason to rebuild with a GM like Hendry, none. It does not make any sense as he has had his shot and screwed it up royally. I want a GM that has a plan, a good plan on how to build a consistant winner not a consistant loser.

Imagine what kind of toolsy crap Hendry would get for him? Fire the GM now before it's too late.

Here's a quiz.

What's wrong with the statement quoted above?

LOL So true...
