According to this, the Tigers might shop Bonderman.

Jeremy Bonderman, RH

Arbitration eligible

At times, he looked like an ace. At other times, he looked like a fourth starter. By the end of the season, his ERA dropped for a fourth straight year — further evidence of his development. Then he became a bona fide postseason performer. He started series-clinching victories over the Yankees and A's, then handed a one-run lead to the bullpen in Game 4 of the World Series. This is a big off-season for him. The Tigers might sign him to a long-term contract or consider trading him for a big bat.

If the Cubs could pull a deal for Burrell, why not deal Jones and a prospect like Mateo or Marmol for Bonderman?

I dont see why Detroit would want Jacque for Bonderman. They already have guys like; Ordonez, Thames, and Monroe to play RF.

Jones isnt really considered a "big bat" either.

I would love to see Bonderman playing for the Cubs. I just dont see Detorit trading him though.

I'm not sure the Tigers would take that deal. You might be looking at something like Marshall and Jones.

That's crazy. Bonderman would probably command a lot more than JJ.

Probably. But it could be the start of a conversation.

They seemed to value Neifi, so maybe we could offer them a package of Izturis, Cedeno, Bynum, and Jones for Bonderman, Guillen, and Ordonez.

I think I laughed more times reading this thread so far than I have in the past week. Jones for Bonderman? Someone must have been drinking all day. Why would the Tigers who already have to many OF's (Mags, Granderson, Thames, Monroe) want an average OF in Jones for a 23 year old starter who has already showed that he is legit and a stud. This might be the worst trade proposal I have heard in a long time.

Yeah, Bonderman has been coming around as one of the top young SPs in baseball. I don't see why the Tiggers would deal him for Jones.

Murton and prospects, on the other hand, seems like a much more likely starting point.

I doubt Detroit would accept that offer. They already have Carlos Guillen at ss, they already have Thames and Monroe for LF, and they have Ordonez for RF. I am sure any talks regarding both Bonderman and Granderson would have to include Zambrano.

Vance is just trying to get the conversation rolling. The more I think about it, the more plausible it seems. I'm sure the Tiggers undervalue Bonderman, for some reason. They love their Neifis and Todd Jonessssss of the world.

I don't see this deal happening at all, but I could definitely see Detroit shopping Bondy. If they're going to contend next year, they must improve their offense. Bondy is their most polished young starter and could net a real big bat in return.

I don't think JJ is that bat. And I don't think they want prospects. They just made the WS and are looking at a tough fight to get back to the post season next year with an aging team (outside of their young pitching, Rogers, Guillen, Pudge, and Maggs aren't going to be productive much longer). If they trade Bondy it'll be for a big stick at 1B or 3B or a big stick at SS (and move Guillen to 1B).

The Reds fans have tossed around Dunn for Bonderman over at Redszone, and I could see that one happening as well.

I don't think the Tigers would do it either. But if Bonderman were on the blocks, I'd like the Cubs to take a run at him. It's probably not feasable, but he would be worth the effort.

I wonder if the Rangers would trade Tex for Bonderman...hmm.

How about this deal, off the top of my crazy head?

Detroit gets: Miguel Cabrera and Eric Patterson

Yankees get: Willis, Inge, and Prior

Cubs get: Alex Rodriguez and Bonderman

Marlins get: Eric Duncan, Sean Gallagher, Felix Pie, and Humberto Sanchez

Switch Cabrera and ARod. I'd much rather have Cabrera.
