Notre Dame = overrated

Penn State = hasn't beat anybody and I don't think they're very good

Wisconsin = lost to Michigan but hasn't played anybody else

Iowa = not that good

I think WVU is the best opponent that either Louisville or Michigan has played this year.

You're quite selective in your evaluation. Here's who West Virginia beat this year:

Marshall

Eastern Washington

Maryland

@East Carolina

@Mississippi State

Syracuse

@UConn

So you're telling me that Penn State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame aren't that good - in large part because of the quality of their competition this year - but you're giving WVU credit for being a really good team? Based on what? A home win over Maryland?

That doesn't mean WVU isn't a good team. Texas played one good team last year in Ohio State and the rest of their schedule was horrible because the Big 12 stunk in 2005 but does that make them a bad team? Of course not. Obviously Texas was creaming their opponents and had Vince Young, but the fact is that they didn't play anybody last year but nobody questioned how good they were.

I brought this up yesterday and I'll bring it up again. A lot of people instantly ripped WVU and UL for not playing defense in Thursday's game but very few people stopped to consider if maybe it was actually two extremely good offenses at work. Texas and USC combined for 79 points and 1130 yards in the National Title game last year but was that horrible defense? Of course not. Every single sportswriter referred to it somthing like the epic encounter of two historic offenses. Not one mention of potentially bad defenses.

A lot of people have this notion that the Big East isn't very good and is an inferior conference. That's completely wrong. Some people will even argue that the Big East doesn't even deserve a BCS bid which is absurd. The Big East is a quality football conference that is rapidly improving. I think that Louisville deserves to be the #2 team in that nation right now over Michigan.

Yes, but your determination that teams like Wisconsin, Penn State and Notre Dame are overrated, but WVU is legit, is completely arbitrary. If you're going to say that the ND and the Big Ten schools haven't beaten anyone, then you have to acknowledge that WV's schedule has been just as pathetic, if not moreso.

Yes WVU's schedule is weak. But they returned the key components from last year's team, namely Steve Slaton and Pat White, which was a very good team.

Notre Dame did the same thing. The problem was, some of Notre Dame's key components (re: the whole defense) aren't very good.

Penn State was a senior-laden team last year and lost their key offensive players.

UCLA scores to tie it at 7. UCLA could probably be even more effective if they weren't penalizing themselves so much. The drive before the TD drive they had 3 separate holding penalties on the same drive.

You're not taking this away from me...2nd-best game I've been to in person, other than ND-USC.

First 3 quarters, all the UM fans were kidding around with us. "You're Ball State, we don't really care, we'll kid around."

In the 4th quarter, they didn't say a word to us. Not one. We had 109,000-some people scared out of their freaking minds.

BS Michigan stuff report I: A little kid behind us kept saying "Ball State sucks". I guess they train them while they're young.

BS Michigan stuff report II: On 4th and goal from the 7 down 34-26, Dante Love was blatantly interfered with. No call. If the refs don't openly screw us, we probably make it 34-32 and send it right down to the 2-point conversion.

BS Michigan stuff report III: After that blatantly bad no-call, I was bitching about it, and the UM fan in front of me said something like, "Get over it!" I couldn't resist saying back, "Would YOU get over it?" Idiot fans behind us were blaming the refs for the whole comeback...it was probably the first time in history that the Wolverines were called for more penalties than a visiting opponent, so obviously they must be getting screwed right?

BS Michigan stuff report IV: The refs were screwing us on spots all day. But that's no big shock.

Seriously...this is the best moment I've ever had and probably ever will have as a Ball State fan. Amazing. Nate Davis, our true-freshman QB, has nuts the size of Saturn.

LOL..I was watching the Oklahoma State guy return a kickoff. He caught it on the left side, and immediately started going straight right. I was screaming "What are you doing? You'll just get tackled inside the 20" when he promptly takes it for a TD.

Now that's a mistake, but I don't mind :D

Still 23-10 Texas though.

Watching on TV, I've got to say that would've been a pretty ticky-tack call if they had thrown a flag. The fact that it was a very poor(maybe even uncatchable?) throw probably sealed the deal. Too bad they didn't pull it off though.

Arkansas leads South Carolina 23-6 after a double-tipped hail mary pass goes for a touchdown right before the half. McFadden has 11 for 128, Jones has 5 for 28. The big question is whether Mustain will get back into the game if Arkansas can score again before Carolina does. The QB controversy potential here is astounding.

Seeing a replay, you might be right. Not that I trust for a second that the Big 10 refs would have thrown the flag even if the ball was right there.

Just for fun, I hope the pollsters use some ridiculously convoluted logic to keep Tennessee ahead of ND.
