BTW, for those who wanted Samardzija's draft status to be hurt, it doesn't really look like that's going to be the case this year, especially now with his 177 and a TD so far today. The only thing that will really hurt him now is his interest in baseball-let's just hope that's enough to knock him down a ways.

Does it really matter? He's stated he's going to play both sports. IMO, the only way he doesn't is if some team drafts him and sweatens the pot so he doesn't play baseball.

I think in that type of scenario he'd have to drop baseball eventually. Maybe he'd be able to be in the minors for a year or two, but his resolve would give out when he's making lots of money in the NFL before he ever got to the majors in MLB.

Not to mention the fact that the Cubs would be on the hook for a lot of money.

Mark me down in the Louisville #2, Michigan #3 camp.

Right now, I would put my money on the over of whatever spread they have for OSU/UM.

That is completely ridicilous.

Louisville has beat up on the likes of

Temple, Kansas St, Middle Tenn, Cincinnati, and Syracuse. The only half-way decent teams they've beaten are the vastly over-rated Miami and West Virginia.

They would get pounded by any number of teams below them including

Texas

Tennesse

ND

Auburn

USC

The Big East is a joke of a Football Conference. When they play in the title game, if they beat the might Rutgers team, they are going to get crushed.

How do you know West Virginia is overrated?

The way Michigan has played recently, they don't deserve the #2 ranking. Unless something big changes and changes quickly they are going to get hammered by Ohio State.

And I think you are vastly underrating not only Louisville but the Big East in general. Louisville is a very good team and I think they will surprise a lot of people if they win out and make the National Title game.

EDIT: And Notre Dame...HAHAHAHAHAHA. Their defense is HORRIBLE.

Maybe, but their schedule includes not-that-difficult road wins over Notre Dame and Penn State, as well as handing Wisconsin their only loss. Meanwhile, Louisville has only played two games that could be considered tough, both of them at home, and they won both. If you're going to tell me that Louisville belongs at #2, then I need evidence that they've earned that ranking. Looking at their schedule, I just can't say they have. Michigan may be playing poorly right now, but they've shown more than Louisville has this year.

That's how I feel as well. Michigan might not be playing well, but their entire season and who they've beat is still better than Louisville. It's not like Louisville hasn't had a close call or two this season anyway as well-it's just that Michigan has had them lately while Louisville has had them earlier. I think the poll should be who has had the best season, not necessarily which teams are playing the best currently.

Notre Dame = overrated

Penn State = hasn't beat anybody and I don't think they're very good

Wisconsin = lost to Michigan but hasn't played anybody else

Iowa = not that good

I think WVU is the best opponent that either Louisville or Michigan has played this year.

SIU blew leads of 21-10 and 24-17 to lose to Youngstown State, 31-24. SIU had a great 2 minute drill going as they got to the 1 yard line with 16 seconds left. With no timeouts, Nick Hill took the ball on a QB draw and couldn't get in. SIU didn't have any time to run another play and lost the game :x

Very tough loss for us today. We have to win our next two games for any chance at a playoff spot.

You're quite selective in your evaluation. Here's who West Virginia beat this year:

Marshall

Eastern Washington

Maryland

@East Carolina

@Mississippi State

Syracuse

@UConn

So you're telling me that Penn State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame aren't that good - in large part because of the quality of their competition this year - but you're giving WVU credit for being a really good team? Based on what? A home win over Maryland?

The Illinois defense has done a good job to not make it a regular Ohio State blowout. Troy Smith with only 110 yards in the air today-he'll still be in the lead for the Heisman after today, but you have to think that his lead will be a little bit smaller.

Not a good day for QBs in the LSU-Tennessee game. Both Russell and Ainge hurt today.

UK wins it.

This is a big win for UK, 1st time in many years against UGA. If they can beat Vandy next week, UK will be in the Music or Indy Bowl. Vandy and UK are pretty close as far as talent and coaching, but they also have UL-Monroe and UT (loss).

Congrats to UK. Georgia has now dropped both games against the bottom of the SEC. I'm standing by my statement that Tech will be stunned in Athens by a crap Georgia team.

It's certainly possible. Georgia's defense is still pretty good at forcing turnovers, and Reggie Ball is turnover prone-so if Georgia could get some short field or defensive TD's, they could win that game.

KU wins 41-10 over a depleted ISU team. Rilvarly game next week against KSU.

Define depleted. Will they still be so in two weeks?

Starting running back Stevie Hicks (knee) may be lost for the season. Wide receiver Jon Davis (collapsed lung) is out today, and two other receivers, Todd Blythe (viral illness) and Austin Flynn (ankle), may not be 100 percent. All are significant setbacks in ISU’s attack.

Sounds like two of those guys may still be out. (knee, lung.) I don't think it'll matter. They've been surprisingly bad this year.

yea, Illinois in the game with 5 minutes left is pretty impressive.

[expletive], why is brasic in?

If that Illinois player hadn't over-run that, he would have recovered that onside kick-now they might have 15-20 seconds at most.

yea, and if OSU hadn't fumbled for a first down last series . . .

these new rules suck

yea, clock needs to stop on change of possession. after first downs I understand but change of possession is stupid.
