Does anybody actually have ESPNU? We had it in our sports package down at schoo, but that's the only way I know of anybody getting it.

We have it in the dorms over here.

Good W for the Illini tonight.

Illinois wins it by 12 effectively eliminating Michigan.

I sure hope we win our last two games then at least one in the Big Ten tourney Man, it's been a long time since we've entered the big dance as a #11 or lower seed, but if we lose two of the next three (one of the last two and the first B10 tourney game) we may be lucky to get that.

Losing 2 of the last 3 and we're done, I've become convinced of that over the past week.

We should be back ahead of Purdue after their loss to Iowa tonight, but we'll have to win at Iowa to stay that way. Winning those last 2 regular season games should put us as a 3 or 4 in the Big 10 tourney. (I'm not sure how tiebreakers work. We split with IU, so if it then becomes total record, we'd have it) I'm assuming an MSU loss at Wisconsin, and then it depends on what happens with IU at MSU, a game I think MSU wins.

It wouldn't mean much for matchups as those 5-6-7 spots are going to come from the mess of mediocrity in the middle, but it would be nice to have 10 conference wins, and being the #3 team in a conference that's looking more and more like a 5-6 bid conference could not hurt at all.

EDIT: And yes that game at PSU is starting to terrify me, although I think them putting up close games against OSU twice, will at least make the team realize they aren't some cupcake to mess around with.

Will Jamar Smith's and Carwell's absence effect their NCAA resume? It definitely could affect their seeding (kenyon martin style.)

Carlwell might be back for the Big 10 tourney, so hopefully he'd be good to go for an NCAA tourney game. The team would be evaluated without Smith, but he wasn't nearly the factor this season that I had hoped for/expected, so it shouldn't hurt them too much.

Hell Weber didn't hardly play Carlwell and Smith was terrible. We have 20 wins a good RPI, 37th I believe and a top 30 SOS. We should be in, but who knows we still need to finish strong.

In case of tiebreakers, I beleive it defaults to the team's record against the first place team.

Yup, that's it. Both Indiana and Illinois went 0-1 against OSU, so then it reverts to their record against the second place team. IU was 1-0 against Wisconsin, while Illinois went 0-1-so IU has any tiebreaker for Big 10 tourney seeding purposes. In fact, IU has tiebreaker advantages with all the teams behind them (because they only played OSU once, that helps them against teams who lost to them twice like MSU), and so would have to lose 2 out of their last 3 in order to get lower than 3rd.

The Big Ten spots are really tough to call. Obviously Wisconsin, OSU and Indiana are in. Barring a collapse I think MSU is in also.

I think there's one more spot to grab. Saturday will be big. I think both Illinois and Purdue could be upset. Penn State and Northwestern have been giving teams scares and coming close to getting that big upset. They both have a shot at home on Saturday. If Purdue loses I think they're done.

I really don't see Illinois winning at Iowa on Senior's Day. Iowa is just a much better team at home and no one in that middle pack of the Big Ten is beating each other on the road.

Iowa needs to win their last two (at PSU and vs. Ill) to get to 18-12, 10-6. At that point they'll still need to win the 4/5 game and likely get an upset on that Saturday against OSU or Wisconsin. I think if we accomplish all of that we'll get in but it will obviously be extremely difficult.

The Big Ten will get 5. MSU has a worse resume than Illinois. They just have a Wiscky win. They could lose out, they won't most likely, but could. I don't think Iowa gets in. If they would have played in the preseason like they did the big ten they would have though.

Iowa is definitely the long shot right now. They need to win 4 in a row. If that happens, I think they get in. The only way they're really even on the bubble is if they win these last two and then the 4/5 game.

MSU isn't in for sure yet, but I think if they win Saturday it might be enough. 2 wins will do it for sure.

If Illinois wins their last two, they're a lock. Lose both and they need to do some work in the BTT. Win one, lose one and who knows.

I agree but look at this, I stole it from one of the illiniboards.

Look at our 9 losses. At Xavier(They are 16-1 at home). At home to Maryland(They are 1 of only 3 ACC teams with a winning road record). At home to Ohio St. & Wisky(Aren't they #1 & #2 in the country?) At Indiana(Hoosiers are undefeated at home). At Mich. St.(They are 18-1 at home). At Purdue(They are 16-1 at home). At Mich.(They are 16-2 at home). At Arizona. If there is such a thing as quality losses, this is it. We are like fiftieth in the polls, that's ridiculous! Winthrop, Drexel, Akron, BYU, Creighton, Appalachian St, are you kidding me? They are all ranked ahead of us, way ahead.

We should be in. Thanks UIloyalfan

The problem is the lack of impressive wins for the Illini. Sure, all their losses have been quality, but 9 losses with only a couple wins that can be considered quality is a bad combination. Illinois is still right on the edge of the bubble though, and if they can finish really strong they will be in-if they are average, they'll be one of those last teams sweating on Selection Sunday.

The other side of that coin is what are the big wins that U of I has? The home half of splits against IU and MSU, and a neutral court win over Bradley are the best wins on the resume. Minnesota and Northwestern are the only true road wins. To compare to MSU, they also don't have any road wins of mention(although they have trips to Ann Arbor and Madison yet), but they had a much harder conference schedule, and they've got some better wins in hand(Texas on a neutral court, Wisconsin).

Winthrop has only lost to UNC (by 7), Wisconsin (in overtime), aTm and Maryland. They're better than Illinois. BYU is 5-3 against top 50 RPI teams, and BYU is 3-3, whereas Illinois is 3-8. Just because these schools don't play in the Big Six conferences doesn't mean they're worse than Illinois.

I think OSU, Wisconsin, Indiana and Moo all have better resumes than Illinois. I do think Illinois should get in, but they'll have to be nervous about the fates of some teams like Nevada, Winthrop, Butler and Memphis that are probably in even if they lose in their conference tourneys.

Haha...Syracuse is one spot ahead of Holy Cross!

The idea that the B10 might get two 1-seeds is laughable. OSU, in particular, has one decent win--at Tenn. If they beat Wiscy, they have a better claim, but so far they've lost every game against top competition.

Well, Bracketology has OSU as a 2 seed right now-if they lose to Wisconsin, I don't see any way that they climb their way back up to a number 1.

Who are your ones then? Please say Kansas.

I agree I said that I borrowed that, I don't think we are better than Winthrop. I also don't think Duke is better than Winthrop.

Someone brought up the point of Illinois' quality losses. What hurts them, is many of those losses came to bubble teams. Yeah, they look decent on a resume, until you put that resume up against the other bubble teams. If I'm trying to decide between team A and team B with similar resumes, yet team A beat team B, I think we know who's getting in.

We still have to take care of buisness first anyways. That Penn State game is a match up nightmare for us. Then we have to play Iowa there for their senior night. We do have a week to prep for it though, and we have won 2 of 3 from them there. That said I want to win at PSU just in case. Then we need to win a game at least in the BTT to eliminate ourselves from the bubble. We need 2 of 3.
