ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

DePaul pretty much yanks Falls to the ground, grabs the ball and scores to go up 1 with 16 seconds. If we lose this game because of that ridiculousness...

Huge win for DePaul. Saying the refs stole the game....well maybe, but more often than not they let the teams bang on the final few possessions. I don't remember the last time I saw a foul called in that situation.

It's a shame DePaul is so incredibly inconsistent. They've shown that they can at least hang with some of the better teams in the country. Beating Kansas was one of the bigger wins the program has had in the past 10-15 years. But they shot themselves in the foot, and are most likely NIT bound. (Unless they somehow run the table on the rest of their regular season games, and win a game or two in the Big East tourney. To do that they'd have to beat Notre Dame again (on the road), plus Marquette next week.)

at this point, just making the Big East tournament would be a nice improvement. But I agree, they really shot themselves in the foot with a few bad non-con losses, then are up and down in conference.

If Northern Iowa wasn't already knocked off the bubble by losing to Indiana St. on Monday, they were tonight by losing at home against Drake.

Yeah, their at-large berth is done now. Ever since we beat them at C'Dale a couple of weeks ago, they've gone into a tailspin. The UNI loss basically guarantees that SIU will be no worse than a 3 seed in the MVC tourney.

And it's still a big man that has to hit two free throws to win it. Game wasn't "stolen". I think a foul should've been called, but just because a foul is called doesn't mean ND wins that game.

Harangody is a very good free throw shooter, I believe about 80 percent. For whatever that's worth.

I said a week ago to other people that ND shouldn't lose more than 1 more game. Since then they've lost two. If they lose more than one more, and then lose in the BE Tournament, that'll give the committee all the excuse they need to bounce us.

Andy Katz was one of 20 writers put through a mock selection committee. Fascinating stuff here.

Some more fascinating stuff from the same thing from Pat Forde, who was also there, and an Indystar writer who was invited to participate:

Some of the information repeats, but each article has some new stuff in it. These are the kind of stories that I love to read but don't come out nearly often enough, the ones that everybody wonders about the selection process but nobody really knows for sure.

Interesting insight. That would be fun.

"To be honest, we were trying to foul."

- Jerry Wainwright on the play where Falls was tackled to the ground and DePaul got the game-winning breakaway dunk out of the deal

We've done it the past 2 years on here during the week leading up to selection Sunday. I've found it pretty interesting.

Darren Collison hurt his shoulder against USC and will be a game-time decision against West Virginia. If Darren doesn't play, freshman Russell Westbrook will start. I like Westbrook a lot but it'll be tough to win in Morgantown without Collison. :?

Round two tomorrow....

Illinois at IU.

Can't wait!

IU has had a whole week off to rest and prepare.

Illinois is toast this time around.

I just want to say one more time before tipoff that I despise Kelvin Sampson and am disgusted that a fine program like IU would hire such a despicable cheater (not talking about EJ). Also, DJ White is a tremendous prick. That being said, here's to an injury free game for both sides.

Good luck IU!
