This rooftop thing is getting way overblown. If hundreds of people were making a handsome profit on a product you owned, and you weren't seeing a cent of it, you'd do something, too, and you'd be foolish if you didn't.

I also go back to the issue when you had players attacking broadcasters. The manager wouldn't do nothing. The GM wouldn't. At some point doesn't some type of leadership have to step in to stop this?

And undermine the GM and manager? In the middle of the pennant race? You might as well fire them if you're going to go over their heads on that, and you'd find pretty much nobody that would fire a manager/GM in the middle of a pennant race. Even the Marlins waited til after the season on Girardi.

No need to go back there. How about the stunt pulled with the rooftop owners a few years back? Just immaturity from them.

What stunt was that? Not allowing people who have nothing to do with the Cubs to make money off the Cubs product? Bastards!

Don't think for a minute that they really care one way or not whether the team is competitive. Its all about bottom lime to them.

And a competitive team helps the bottom line.

If they did you would see things such as an overhaul of the minor league system.

But wouldn't an overhaul of the minor leauge system lead to those young players that Minnesota has? And wouldn't a team with young studs cost a lot less than 100M worth of mediocrity? Wouldn't a team of young studs that were contenders draw in more money than 100M team that goes 66-96?

And frankly, any decision to overhaul the minor league system should come from the GM or head of minor league development. And taking such a decision out of Hendry or Fleita's hands would be undermining them.

I dont' view it as undermining them. The whole deal of harrasment of the

broadcasters was a black eye to the organization.

It had to be dealt with somehow.

The only person I have faith in is Wilken. (regarding the farm system)

you mean overhaul it like hendry did a few years ago? I think jim is a classic example of the peter principle.

Sorry is this question has already been answered, but do we know how long McDonough is going to tbe the President? Will he be official or are they looking for someone else?

I think he's a caretaker until the team is sold. We don't really know anything though. He's there until he's fired.
