So, let Hendry oblige him, right?

"Then there are rumblings that right fielder Jacque Jones might want out. Jones and disappointing reliever LaTroy Hawkins were the only major free agents attracted by Baker. Without Baker, Jones might want to play closer to his San Diego home."

I'm sure the notion of trading Jacque will bring a smile to many of you, who were understandably very upset when he was signed.

He has $11.6M and 2 years left - if Hendry picks up a third, I think he can move him.

IMO there is no doubt in my mind that Jones is worried about being platooned and it's all about him. Baker let the vets do what they wanted and now Jones wants the same from the next manager.

I hope a team sees his numbers and trades for him. I'm curious on what the Cubs could get.

Yep. Dusty's tenure has taught me that most athletes are fundamentally self-interested. Jones will paint the situation as disenchantment over Dusty's departure but we all know he has to be worrying about a platoon.

How about JD Drew?

He supposedly will be available this offseason.

Are the Dodgers hoping he opts out of his remaining 3 years and $33M to save money, or do they want him to opt in, so that they can trade him for some value?

He had a decent year this year, but he's not likely to put up those numbers again. If he can be ditched, I say go for it. Sell high.

Agreed. In fact, put me down as satisfied by Jones' 2006 numbers. Maybe my perception is tainted by the bad season for the team overall, but he did fine.

Trade him and upgrade the OF.

Manny please.

Marcus Giles anyone? He's number one on Atlanta's dump list this winter. I say we buy low for once. I'd rather give Cedeno another year at SS under a manager who can get him to start showing a little patience again and have Giles at 2B then go with Cedeno at 2B and Izturis at SS.

Jones and Dempster for Dunn?

How about Jones and some cash to the Angels for a prospect? The Angels could play Jones in LF (assuming they don't get Manny) and move Garret Anderson to DH permanently.

How about Jones and some cash to the Tigers for a prospect? I've read Detroit may trade Craig Monroe this offseason or even non-tender him.

No love for Manny? Jones, Demp and 1 of Marmol, Marshall, Mateo for Manny?

I seem to recall that he already has stated that he will not opt out. I would definately like to see Jones traded, followed by the aquisition of Drew. After his somewhat down year I would think that it wouldn't take much to get him (unless of course he is on fire in the playoffs). What would the dodgers ask in return do you think?

Yeah, I don't think Drew will opt out and the Dodgers would prefer a trade to losing Drew without compensation.

I'm not sure why the Tigers might trade/non-tender Craig Monroe but then go for Jacque. They seem like similar players who bat from different sides of the plate.

Jones for Brian Giles

.263/.374/.397/.771

Is this the beginning of a decline? The OBP is good, but thats about it. Considering he's making twice as much as Jones, I think I'd rather keep Jock.
