It was supposed to be Orlando Hernandez starting Game 1 for the Mets but El Duque hurt his calf today and might miss his start.

EDIT: Oops. Meant to start the Det-NY thread (which I did). Not sure why I started another LA-NY thread considering I had already posted in this one. My brain must not be fully functioning yet (it's too early).

El Duque seems to think he can still pitch and is shooting for that. The decision has probably already been made since the Mets had till 10 am ET to set their 25-man for this series.

Doctors were to re-evaluate the test results Tuesday night, and the Mets planned to wait and see how Hernandez feels when he wakes up Wednesday before deciding on a starter. They must submit their 25-man roster for the first round by 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

If Orlando doesn't start, rookie RHP John Maine will get the call.

Why is Glavine not starting this game? With Pedro being out, you would think that the Mets would make their rotation set for Glaving pitching game 1.

He threw his side session yesterday (before Hernandez got hurt). Glavine was scheduled to pitch game 2.

They are going on the "El Duque is clutch in the playoffs" principle. He and Maine have been their best starters since the ASB. And they know Glavine has a horrible divsional series history.

Also, when they found out Pedro was done, Glavine had already had 4 days rest and was scheduled to pitch the next day. I don't think they wanted him starting Game 1 on 9 days rest, so they let him pitch on his normal schedule to keep him consistent. His one start this year on long rest was very bad.

If if have to see another subway series in my lifetime im going to _______.

Since the yankees are looking like real favorites to win the AL im going to focus all my negative energy on that cess pool of stadium called shea and root against the Mets. Id like to see Nomar just go off this postseason and glavine get shelled too. Willie Randolph is irritating me lately, he can start sucking anytime too.

Oh that stupid apple is centerfield. Dont get me started on that......

I know this is late in coming, but cross Rich Donnely off the list of potential Cub third base coaches.

Also, what was Willie Randolph doing leaving Guillermo Mota into hit with the bases loaded and 2 outs!?! And then Mota promptly gives up the lead the next inning?!?

Cross Randolph off, too.

Well let's see if the Dodgers can top getting two guys thrown out at the plate in the same game.

Let's see if they can top getting two guys thrown out at home within 5 seconds of each other.

That's what I meant. I'm stupid.

lofton-nomar-kent would be the greatest 2-3-4 ever if this was 1999

Dodgers seem to think they're facing 1999 Glavine.

glavine had a lower era and a better k/bb this year than he did in 1999

im shocked too, i only looked it up because i wanted to see how good 1999 pedro/glavine/wagner would be
