You got it! Cincinnati again!

For the second year in a row, Cincinnati will open a season against the Cubs at Great American Ball Park. Opening Day is slated for April 2.

We've opened the year in Cincy now 3 times in 4 years...

2007 @ Reds

2006 @ Reds

2005 @ DBacks

2004 @ Reds

Who ever makes these schedules needs to be shot. The last time the Cubs opened at home was like 2001...

I was just thinking it feels like we played the reds a thousand times this year. I know that's not the case, but it sure feels that way!

I know it's total bull, but I brought up while watching the opener this year that the Cubs have beaten up on the Reds since 2003 when they open there and it's always just been a false hope for the upcoming season.

I hate being right.

The Cubs must lose opening day.

The Cubs have dominated opening day for the last few years if I'm not mistaken.

I think it's double digit runs on opening day each of the last 4 years or something like that.

Isn't there some rule where the Reds always open the season at home since they're the oldest team in the bigs? I thought I remember reading that somewhere.

I heard that too. Game 1 equals a Cub blowout though. Always happens.

There was a time where the Reds' home opener was THE game on Opening Day. No games in Japan or Mexico back then, just the Reds opening on Monday and everybody else starting on Tuesday.

For awhile I believe they had the designition of having the earliest start time on Opening Day too. Something about being the oldest team in baseball.

I think you're right. Even after other games started being played on Opening Day I believe the Reds played a day game and the others were night games.

I think the reason why MLB loves to put the Cubs playing the Reds on OPENING Day, is because both of these teams are two of the oldest teams in the majors. And I don't know maybe this trend of the Cubs playing the Reds in Cinci on the first day of the yr will continue. IMO, if that is the case, if the Cubs have to play the Reds on Opening Day in Cinci, then the Reds need to come to Chicago, on the Cubs home opener. It's only fair.

Games in Chicago at the very beginning of April have a high chance of encountering really bad baseball weather. Actually, we probably have the worst early april weather of any non-dome team

Or maybe Detroit is worse?
