Well, being worst in the NL is just as good as worst in the league. AL teams had a much harder schedule no matter how you look at it.

I have every confidence the Cubs can lose enough to be the worst team in baseball, but they really already are... and it's really not even close...

The low point of the season is up for debate in my opinion. The Cubs are the furthest away from .500 they have been all year, and the lowest in the standings. However, their winning percentage, at .399, is nowhere near the low point, which came toward the end of the first half, when it dipped to .361, on pace for a 58 win season. In order to beat that mark, the Cubs would have to lose all but 3 of their remaining games. Tough task.

I have the utmost confidence they can pull it off.

Last thing I remember, we were chugging cold delicious beers on a golden friday spring afternoon in the Wrigley bleachers... Greg Maddux and everyone around us were enjoying a commanding lead in the game, and Maddog was cruising toward yet another amazing, dominating win... The Cubs were about to finish the day with a 13-8 record... everyone was expressing astonishment there wasn't much to complain about with Baker this year...

I remember a couple of years ago someone said that people off the streets can manage the cubs better than our current GM and people laid into him. I think this proves that those people were wrong. A monkey with one leg from the circus can manage this team better than Hendry.

Here's a screencap of the bleachers that I took:

Ah yes, those are the bleachers of my youth ... and how appropriate to put up a screencap of Bay's bomb.

Curious to get opinions on the following:

If the White Sox make the playoffs, will they outdraw the Cubs next year? Will they outdraw the Cubs even if they miss?

The Lee/Eyre injury (the obvious turning point of the season) happened in LA if that is what you are referring to.
