KU 21 - LA Monroe 19

Take THAT Lousiana Monroe.

The LAM Warhawks QB had 370 yards passing against us.

I don't like our chances at Toledo.

You only beat ULM by 2! That's not good. BTW, how did Cardia Jackson do for ULM? I taught him as an 8th grader.

Colorado drops their rivalry game at Colorado State, 14-10. Things may get worse before they get better for Mr. Hawkins. They host #25 Arizona State next week, then they go to #12 Georgia before coming to Columbia the following week. There's a serious chance Colorado could be 1-7 by the end of October.

In other Big 12 scores, kU just finished holding off UL-Monroe 21-19; Baylor, aTm, OK St., and Kansas St. all dominated terrible teams; Texas Tech leads UTEP 7-6 midway thru the 2nd quarter in El Paso.

Colorado worried me coming into the year. Now, they do not.

Shockingly, the game wasn't televised here in Chicago, so I'm going off the box score. I don't see his name. Offense or Defense?

As for it being not good...well, at KU, a football win is a football win. But no, that's probably not a good augury for the rest of this season. Still, we're young, and hopefully we'll get better.

He's a freshman linebacker. Do you see a McNeal in the box on offense?

Well, as you all noticed, BSU blows 17-0 and 23-7 leads and loses 24-23 to IU. Hoke elected to punt with about 4 minutes left, 4th and 9 from about our own 45, which I disagreed with since no score can put the game out of reach apart from a TD and 2 pointer. Then, on 4th and 1 with 1:50 left and no timeouts, IU comes out and just tries to draw us offsides, and for the first time that I have ever seen, it works. We jump, and they run out the clock. Heartbreaking. (We also missed a PAT and a FG in the game.)

And kudos to all the Hoosiers fans that talked crap to us after the game. You had to come back from down 17 to beat a MAC team by one. Nice work.

Edit: I guess it should be noted that Blake Powers got hurt, didn't play, and then Graeme McFarland was pulled after two three-and-outs, and we got schooled by 3rd-stringer Kellen Lewis, who is a very poor man's Vince Young.

Air Force scores a TD, goes for 2, and fails-they are down 31-30 to TN now, and TN has recovered the onside kick.

Bring on them Crocodiles next week! After we lost Justin Harrell, Arian Foster, and Inky Johnson we may struggle to field a team. Ainge looked great and Jayson Swain and Robert Meachem both had around 100 yards receiving. I'll take this squeaker if we can get Florida next week.

Wow. Ohio St. kills Texas, I love it. A lot of questions answered about OSU's young d. I don't see any way they don't go to the National Championship game at this point with the Big Ten apparently well down.

Anyone want to comment on LSU's Jamarcus Russell throwing for a 29-yard TD while the Tigers were up 31-0 on Arizona in the third? How classless is LSU!?!?

(Didn't think so...there's only so much hate to go around, and we need to save as much of it as possible for ND.)

Other teams "running up the score" today:

*#4 Auburn's starting QB Brandon Cox throws a TD pass with 1:45 to go in the 3rd quarter, putting the Tigers up 31 on Mississippi State.

*#7 Florida's starting QB Chris Leak throws a TD pass with 8:32 to go in the 4th quarter, putting the Gators up 42 on Central Florida.

*#8 LSU's starting QB Jamarcus Russell throws a 29-yard TD pass with 5:05 to go in the 3rd quarter, putting the Tigers up 38 on Arizona.

*#21 Nebraska's starting QB Zac Taylor throws for TWO TD's in the third quarter, putting Nebraska up 35 and 42 points respectively over Nicholl's State.

Do we want to discuss all of these, or single out Notre Dame as "classless?" We were not up as much as these teams and played a much higher caliber of opponent. Did all of these teams run up the score and therefore are all of these programs classless? Opinions please, especially from the anti-ND crowd.

I'm not a ND fan, and I'll say I have no problem with them trying to score as much as possible. During the LSU game, I got pissed when Arizona got the field goal on 2nd and 3rd teamers on defense. When they got on LSU's side of the fifty I was screaming for Miles to put the first team defense back in.

My only issue is that I don't think ND has any entitlement to the second spot in the polls. I won't be upset if they get that spot, but it could just as easily belong to a handful of teams.

I agree with everything you just wrote.

UK rolled over 1-AA Texas St. and now Swiss Miss is up next. It'll be a good battle of the SEC's worst (throw Vandy and Miss. St. into that mix).

Not to offend, but I think Vandy's a little better than those three. They fought with Michigan last week and nearly beat Bama today. Chris Nickson looks pretty solid, I think he's gonna be good.

They'll be in that 3-5 win territory like UK, Ole Miss., and Miss St.

3-5 is the ceiling for UK, Ole Miss, and Miss St., though. Vandy is more likely to hit 4-5 and, with a couple realisitic upsets, could reach 6 and a bowl.

UK with their schedule has a good chance to get more wins than Vandy.

boo ohio state

Huh? How can you quote a boo for truth?

Nice win by Ohio State. They answered pretty much any critic remaining. Clearly a favorite to go to the Championship game now. I see them ripping through the Big 10 like a hot knife through butter.
