How can you not love these guys?

October 2003 :x

(I don't care that only two of them are left, and one from that team is one of the few good things about our team.)

I can't root for that team ever. Well its been 22 years and I'm still not a huge fan of the Padres. The Giants are so so.

Remember our dominating rotations:

Josh Beckett - Oft injuried and sucky with the Red Sox

Dontrelle Willis - Still with the team, mediocre ERA but pretty decent pitcher

Brad Penny - Well he did start in the All Star game this year

AJ Burnett - Didn't play in the playoffs but oft injured with Toronto

Carl Pavano - Oft injured and sucks with the Yankees

Mark Redman - Mediocre pitcher mostly

Mark Prior - Injuries derailed career

Kerry Wood - See Prior

Matt Clement - See Prior and Wood, also a headcase

Carlos Zambrano - Still dominant

Shawn Estes - Should not be considered in this topic

Speaking of the Marlins..sounds like Loria's son in law is a real piece of

work.

Something fishy about Marlins president

It sounds like someone needs to put Florida Marlins president David Samson in his place.

OK, other than Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, who put son-in-law Samson in his current position of power.

The reason for the concern?

As Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel columnist Dave Hyde notes: ''Recently, the Marlins team president gave another supposedly comic discourse on [radio] that touched all the bases of women, sex and pornography. This isn't uncommon. In the past, he has 'joked' of having Porn Night at the stadium. He's 'joked' of having a sex toy in his car. He's 'joked' which players looked like porn stars.

''On this particular show, a male caller who said he otherwise enjoyed Samson's segment asked him to, 'Please try not to be so derogatory toward women and lustful when you do the interview. I try to enjoy the show with my girl, and she's like, 'Oh, that Dave Samson, he's a real creep.'''

''I will try to be slightly less lecherous for his girlfriend,'' Samson said. ''And if he would like to bring her to my office, we could definitely talk about my lechery.''

Samson defended his remarks by saying the radio program is ''done completely tongue in cheek.

''We were talking of a [Marlins] promotion where strippers would give lap dances, and I said, 'No, it's much funnier if you have them work the foul pole.'''

OK, maybe not much funnier.

Rather than give this guy a new ballpark, maybe someone simply should give him a lounge act.

Get outa there Joe. Run. Come to Chicago. You have a home here.

I agree. The Marlins are the ones I want to win the Wild Card. How cool would it be for a team with a $15 million payroll to make the playoffs? It'll make a lot of GM's look awfully silly, if you ask me.

I can't stand Loria. He never should have been given another opportunity to own a team. But, if you are going to rebuild, he has mastered the art of how to go about doing it. That's a team that's very fun to watch, no matter what the history is between the Cubs/Marlins.

I think the fact that the NL is so weak this year makes the team look alot bettter than they are, but the fact that they are as a team making less than 8 or so players in the MLB is a real testement to how well run the farm system and ML club are. Joe Girardi should be a good manager for years to come.

I don't think their farm system is run all that well. Most of those guys on the big league club were acquired through trades.

True, but many of the players they've dealt in the past have been from their organization.

It's not the Marlins fault that Alou couldn't make a catch, or AGone fielding a ground ball, or Mark Prior unravaling THAT fast. It's not the Marlins fault the Cubs pitchers allow them to come back and win both games in Chicago.

October of 2003, is strictly on the Cubs, and not the Marlins.

Fact: I absolutely love how the Marlins are playing right now. And if Loria is stupid enough to let Girardi go, I want the Cubs to sign him before Loria has second thoughts.

Joe Girardi for manager and Steve Stone for GM, please. Time to get the clowns out of the Cubs' management hierarchy.

If Steve Stone becomes GM, we're looking at another regime that will fail to bring in a championship.

How about Gerry Hunsicker for GM and Larry Dierker for manager?

Didn't Stone want the Cubs to get Izturis?

and he wants them to re-sign Pierre. He's a clown too.
