So what happened to Barrett? And what is a intrascrotal hematoma? It sounds like a hernia. The cubs.com blurb about it is very vague and I don't watch the games anymore.

My guess is that's it for Barrett this year. Since rosters have expanded, there would be no need to put him on the DL if there were a chance of his returning. :(

Ok, hematomas are localized bleeding from burst blood vessels. For example, when you get conked in the head and it starts bleeding inside your cranium and they have to drill a hole to let the pressure out, that's a subdural hematoma.

let's hope there was less drilling in this case.

That happened to my brother, when he was catching in college. he caught a foul tip that somehow got past his cup. It messed him up big time. He was in the hospital for a while and it laid him out for months. His scrotum swelled up like a water baloon.

It can be a very serious injury.

I had the same injury from playing with my Boxer. He just happened to hit me right and next thing I know I was being wheeled into surgery. Any bleeding internally is dangerous to a degree. I was sore for weeks afterwards. Not so much walking but anything that I needed to use my legs for that would put stress on the groin area.

This summer, umpiring, I was hit on the side of the cup by a foul tip shoving everything to one side rapidly. I was lucker than Barrett this time but it was a week before I could get into position behind the plate again. I couldnt imagine trying to catch that soon.

He took a ball to the balls, more than likely.

It happend to me once and was the last time I caught a baseball game.

My testies swelled up the size of a 16' softball and turned black.

GEOVANY SOTO!!!!!!!!

will not see much time, if Baker has anything to say about it. So, figure on seeing "The Superstar" Henry Blanco for a MAJORITY of the time, cause dude, he's "earn it."

Soto HAS to get significant time. The Cubs already know what Blanco can do. They need to get an extended look at Soto to get a feel for whether they can count on him to be the backup catcher next year.

Now, time for me to go torture myself as punishment for having the nerve to suggest that the Cubs actually use logic. :D

So, I was just thinking to myself, "what should we have for supper?"

Then I read this post and no longer have an appetite.

That leaves Aramis, Jacque, Z and Murton as people on this team who have actually contributed something this season who have not gone on the DL.

That's a huge softball. How did you walk? Did you just roll them ahead of you? Conveyor belt, maybe?
