Schmidt is pretty much always a guarantee to destroy the Cubs. Over the past three years:

5 GS, 4-0, 38IP, 1.18 ERA, 2 CG, 48/9 K/BB, 2 HR, .157 BAA

One year, I think 2003 or 2004, we beat the Giants 4 out of 6, and the 2 losses were Schmidt games where he did something like 17 IP and 1 run. It was unbelievable.

The Cubs are still playing games ?!?....whodathunkit.

Well there is that game the manager has been playing for almost four years.

I'll watch some of it anyway. I'll probably also miss it next winter.

Hello Fred. I really enjoy some of your worthless stats, others, well, I see why you call them worthless.

You have several batting "on a pace to" stats and I'm wondering if you have any pitching and/or fielding "on a pace to" stats. I think that is where the real difference will show up, because the batting stats don't look that much different.

CUBS are on a pace to commit 103 errors this year..... compared to 100 last year

Go CUBS !!

Haven't really looked into the pitching stats on that basis. Good idea.

edit: you're quite right about the pitching being the difference.........

I think it's awesome. I figure why not, what's it gonna hurt, it's not like we're in a pennant race. Plus, it gives Geovany some playing time.

BTW, looking up at his career stats-Blanco has played at 1st one other career game in 1997 with the Dodgers when he initially came up to the major leagues. His only other positions are 1 game at 3rd in 1997 and 1 game in LF in 1999.

Heheh, if it wouldn't block Murton or Pagan, I'd love to see him in LF. It'd be funny.

Fred, I think the fielding really shows up in your pitching stats too.

2005 43 unearned runs

2006 to date 59 unearned runs

That's interesting..... much greater disparity in unearned runs on basically the same number of errors.
